Tire Mounting Tool
I read somewhere that BMW markets a simple tool that helps lift the tire off the ground and helps align the holes so that the lugs can be easily screwed in.
I always seem to strain myself in the process. Tried the search function with no luck. Can anyone help? Thanks in advance. |

I had this with a M-B c230k. It's called a guide pin. Threaded on one end so you screw it into the uppermost lug hole, since its about 4 inches long, you then slide the wheel hole onto this pin and all the other holes line up. I used it all the time, made changing wheels so much easier. Not sure if the M-B version, which I still have will have the same thread size as BMW, doubt it.
LeatherZ sells this pin for BMW/MINI. http://leatherz.com/Merchant2/mercha...gory_Code=Mini

The tool you are talking about used to come in every BMW tool kit until the run flats came into use. All it is is a 10" round steel bar, plated (so it won't rust), with a grey plastic end piece that slides into the bolt hole on the hub. I helps line up the wheel bolt holes to the threaded hole in the hub. Any good dealer should get it for you, it's under $10. Or go to a junk yard.

Call Andy at LeatherZ. I'd never seen one before, he gave me one this evening. Works like a charm.
