Key memory and service interval countdown
I just placed an order for a 330 yesterday. My wife and I were talking about how the key-linked memory seats worked. If you take the car in for service and they adjust the seats will those settings become set for whatever key they use?
My other question is regaring the service interval indicator. At what resolution does it count down? Obviously it adjusts to the driving conditions so it's not 1:1. Does it go down in 50 mile incriments? 100? 1,000? |

When someone else drives using your key and/or adjusts your seats, climate control, radio presets, mirrors, etc. those settings will be remembered by the key. The good news is that most of the time only the seats will be moved and maybe the mirrors. When you know someone else has used your key (i.e. service or valet) just touch your memory button on the seat controls (1 or 2) and your seat and mirrors will return to the positions saved there. Then, using your key - make any fine adjustments and everything will be saved again for your key with your settings. That's why the memory buttons are still important.
I think the service interval is decremented by 1000 mile intervals, as mentioned. P.S. Congrats on the order!

Ledzep,
Has your service interval been decreasing? Mine hasn't. Been on 15000 since the day I bought the car (I've got 6500 now). Did we ever figure out if it's a countdown timer or a "when you get to this point" timer? I know it was debated here a while back, but don't remember what the conclusion was. |

I am told that it is "this many more miles" until service. It's normal for it to remain high for awhile. I am just about to turn 10,000 miles on my car and I think it still says 9,000 more until service. No wonder it's free.. the first oil change isn't due until 50,001 miles!
