Amazing Tread life (saw my buddies 50k mile tires)

Hi guys,

i guess after having a few car with relatively low Treadwear life. I was suprised to see my buddies Honda Civic (im guessing around year around 2000). His tires looked like they were practically brandnew at 50,000 miles and appear that he could achieve another 40k miles on them. There was no sidewall cracking and they are the original tires . Tread life was stamped at 600. PBA these are ORIGINAL OEM tires

next up was my 06 hyundai 30k miles and look like they could handle another 20k or so. tread life was stamped at 300ish and the tires are already showing signs of sidewall cracking. PBA these are the original OEM tires.

next up is my 335i.. well you guys know its around 130 treadwear. just amazed a tire that costs around 50 bucks when compared to a $300 tire last quite a bit longer. I know i know... if i drove his car the tires would prob be squealling everwhere and the car would be sideways . my buddy drives like a pussy , so im not suprised.

It's kinda funny when i talk to people about tire wear and they look shocked when i told them my G's tires were around 275 each and had to be replaced at 15k ... meanwhile when their tires wear out they are running to pep boys to buy the 4 tires for $25 special

any ideas why my 06 sonata would have cracks in the sidewalls and his 2000 (est) civic doesnt ?

thanks

ppp

can you imagine how horrible it would be to have crummy tires on your car, and you can't even wear them out!!!!

I actually like putting new tires on every 1-2 years, I like shopping for tires like girls shop for shoes

You buy different tires to match your outfits?

yes, I often wear the same outfit for 1-2 years at a time

I hope you realize the numbers tell you how hard or soft the compound is. Thie higher the number the harder (last longer) the tires are the lower (shorter lifespan) the softer they are. Softer tires give you better grip, there's always a compromise.
