Good deal on off-season snow tire sets?

Any suggestions on where to buy a set of wheels & tires for my '06 330i? So far the best deal I can find is a bit over $900 for a complete winter wheel/tire set. I figured, being the off season, I could do a bit better on the price, but so far not much luck.

Also, I know I'll have to be going down to a 17" rim from my 162's. Is there anything I need to know if I'm shopping for rims w/o using one of those tools that for selecting the specific vehicle you have? For example, are the bolt patterns generally universal?

First off, you might have better luck posting in the wheel/tire section. Secondly, go to tirerack.com and put a package together. Easiest thing to do.

My mistake about the wrong forum. Tirerack.com is where I got the $900 package price from. Is it assumed that this is as good as it gets?

Also, are the compatibility calculators on those sites pretty reliable? My big concern is having to pay to return tires that don't fit. I suspect those calculators just go by rim diameter & bolt pattern, which makes me worry about going from a 18" to a 17" rim after reading about the brake calipers getting in the way.

Actually they are pretty accurate as long as you put in the specific model you have(ie: sports package, XI, OEM wheel size etc.). It takes everything into consideration. If you have any doubts, just call them up, they are very knowledgable.

I'll probably just get some generic rims at $100 a piece.
