Weekend in Rhode Island..

Thinking of going to RI for the weekend. Weather looks great. Have heard good things about RI and the beaches, etc.

Any advice on where to stay, where to go, etc? Might stay Saturday night and spend the entire weekend there if something good comes up..

Thanks in advance..
Josh

RI Trip

If you're looking to go to a beach try Scarborough State Beach; just down the road is Narragansett. Drive on Rt. 1 (Ocean Road) by "the wall" it's the strip everyone cruises. On that road is "Turtle Soup", they have a nice porch/patio set-up. You could have some food/drink and watch all the action go by. Also, a block up on Boon Street is "Crazy Burger", one of my favorites. If you're looking for summer beach food go to "Monahan's" and get the fried clams and fries. They are located on Ocean Road right at the start of "the wall". After that, continue down Rt. 1 towards Jamestown/Newport, (Brickley's Ice Cream is worth a stop) take the Jamestown bridge then head over to Newport and cruise Thames Street then up to (another) Ocean Road (past the famous mansions and the tennis hall of fame). It's a very scenic drive. There are many good restaurants in Newport but the "Brick Alley Pub" is a great place to go. There are a few very nice hotels as well (Newport Marriot and the Viking Hotel to name a couple). Let me know how your trip was and don't hesitate to ask for more suggestions; I've spent many summers in Narragansett.

Misquamicut is a white trash beach. I've lived here my whole life, trust me. Narragansett is a better place to go for beaches. Second beach in Middletown is nice too.

Gooseneck Beach is another good one in Newport. Just drove past it the other day. Just like Cali-man stated...very scenic. ...we just got here last week and love it already.
