Break-in service

Does it matter if this is done early, say at 1800km (1100miles)? Or should it be delayed till at least 2000km or 1200 miles?

In other words does it make a differnece if its before or after the 2000km mark?

Apparently it doesn't make any appreciable difference. Some people are getting theirs done at 800 miles when they have the oil pump recall service performed.

I was just told by a dealer in Atlanta the M3, and the M5 share the same break in oil and parts? I suggest you call, and confirm before leaving your car at a dealer. I have asked some of them to go and check to ensure they have the parts! Unreal

The bmw engineer @ the ED M event told me that they suggest to get it done at least 1200 miles or more. If you do it before there is risk that all the parts won't be fully worn in and can continue to accumulate metal shavings. I guess it's a better safe than sorry mentality. I have 1900 miles on mine and will get done at it done at redelivery.

I'm good to go with 1180, and will have it done Saturday! South Atlanta asked me to wait, and not do it on a Saturday because they don't trust the crew their on Saturday! I said no thanks and will not have them touch my car.

Loving it! Just had the break-in service done at 1920km

And yes they put in LL01 5w-30 oil!

How is everything on your end?
