TPM light came on .......
My Tire Pressure Monitor light came on yesterday and I have a few questions......
1.) How do I know which tire is low ???? 2.) I did check all the tires and they were fine. 3.) So all I did was reset the TPM Anyone have this issue ?? |

"1.) How do I know which tire is low ????"
Not sure if the affected tire can be reported without i-Drive. If it's possible, the manual doesn't say how. "2.) I did check all the tires and they were fine." "3.) So all I did was reset the TPM" If all tires had same pressure as when the TPM was last calibrated then your TPM system is malfunctioning. You may want to go to your dealer and have them look at it. (Of course you never want to reset the TPM without first checking the tire pressure.) |

When was your car built? If you have a March '07 or later build then you would have the TPMS which is more robust. I've never had it alert, but in iDrive it shows all four tires in green when active. My assumption is that the low tire would show as yellow or red or something.
Also I echo the comment above about always checking with a guage. RFTs won't necessarily look low or flat. It is also possible that your tires lost enough pressure naturally to cause the alert. This would especially be likely going from Fall into Winter. Only TPMS would detect that though if they are losing pressure equally.

On my way to work, my TPM came on this morning indicating the right rear (in yellow). I pulled over and checked the pressure. It was fine. Actually all tires were the exact same pressure. So I reset the TPM and continued driving.
However, TPM alerted again (same tire) tonight when I started the car to begin driving back from work. Funny thing is, the car didn't even move before alert - I had just started it. That suggests that the TPM for that wheel is broken. |

The other day i was leaving my work garage and I got the TPM message. Drove home, checked tire pressure, and besides being a couple of psi off from manufactures specs, all was fine. Reset the TPM and got "green" lights on all 4 tires. So, not sure what set it off. The manual says something about some radio signals interfering with the monitor.

I had the same problem yesterday and the car (335xi CP) only has 225 miles on it.
I check the tire pressure in the 4 wheels and the pressure was fine. I took it to the dealer this morning and they wanted me to reset it in the morning when the tires are cold. The light still comes on for like 3 min and then disappears ...does any one know if there are known problems with the TPM system. Thanks |

It's not a malfunction. The tires actually DO need air. They may not look like it, but trust me. My tires got the warning and I too thought it was a malfunction. After all, the car was only 5 months old. A cursory glance at the tire suggested it was fine. I hit the reset and it would come back. It eventually left. I just had my 4 tires replaced because the 2 in the front were "feathering". It's a low tire pressure issue. BMW recommends tires be checked 2x/month. Check it at least 1x/month. If you ever get the alert, just take it in and let them deal with it. But DO NOT drive around on tires that got the TPM warning like there's nothing wrong by simply resetting the TPM. You'll eventually wonder why your tires are noisy and you'll be mad. Google "tire feathering" for more info on the subject. And PLEASE don't tell people to ignore the issues that their car is telling them should be checked out.

TPMS may need repair
Alert. It may also be a bad part. Don;'t assume it's always low tire presure and visit your dealer with the complaint. Document when it happens and what the conditions are. I suspect it's a known issue.
My TPMS in a Jue 14 2007 build 335i malfunctioned the day I got the car. It did it every week or two even with tire pressure fanatically checked. I took it to the dealer who immediately knew to look for a defective receiver (not defective senders in the wheels). They replaced it under warranty and now everything is fine unless I actually have low pressure. It IS sensitive. If I wash the car on a cold day, the cold water can lower the pressure enough to require a reset even though the tire is not actually low when parked, cold -- but dry.

there's a firmware bug.
remember early cars had FTM and newer ones have TPM. just run over 4 nails and use your safeguard program so you get a matched set of 4 new tires.
