If you're willing to try them, you can get a front set of Forge BBK for about that. I've been eyeing them for awhile, but haven't heard any reviews.

nothing on their website

correction... found some forum results for sale on google.. and the VW golf 356mm kit is only 1000 GBP....
huge range of pads useable (all good brands) this is very interesting... seems they have been doing brakes (and racing with them) for quite a number of years for vw/audi/porsche at least)
