lvwirelessguy regarding sale of the split armrest

You left me no choice lvwirelessguy.

Here's the story, and please note, whenever a conflict or disagreement arise between another forum member and I, I always try to resolve it through pm, giving both sides a chance to come to an agreement.

Recently I bought the split armrest from lvwirelessguy. Before the sale was finalized, I asked him if the springs necessary for the armrest to spring up and stay open are included, to which he replied, "the "springs" that keep the armrest up are built into the arm rest console". Which I took as yes, they're included.

For reference of the srpings in question, please refer to this post:
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showpo...8&postcount=69

The following is the pms that took place between us:

I did not say I would be shipping springs. Period!

I have every saved PM to back this up as well

However, if I cannot locate a set of springs to complete my install, I would like to ask for a refund.

before, he said that he doesn't know what spring I'm talking about, even calling them "mythical", "useless" and "not needed", and now he's saying that he specifically told me that springs are NOT included in the sale? come on now

I had never seen an armrest anywhere on an e90 that had springs installed and opens fully at the press of a button.

I will contact him about the springs but I never promised springs would be included. I made this very clear.

I described the armrest just as I bought it and how I installed it

He probably thought they were useless and threw them away. Ill find out though

You may deem it useless, but the fact of the matter is I asked for it before we made the transaction, the armrest is in great condition, but I still need the springs, they may seem useless to you, but not to me (please respect that), that's one of the reason why I decided to go with the split armrest; the fact that it doesn't slam shut if you let go of it

If you bought it from AJ, can you ask him if he still has the springs?

I am sorry to disappoint you but you do not need the mythical spring to install this

Looks like he bought an incomplete set and unlaoded it on you...

Hopefully you get it resolved...

Some people have no business ethics... he should:

- give full return.

or

- or give you atleast 20% credit since he misrepresented his product.

How much are said springs? Maybe we could get on realoem.com, find these springs, and the seller could reimburse you for the cost of the springs. I wouldn't imagine they're more than a few dollars. If you are happy with everything else, and it was stated you would receive springs, then the seller owes you some springs.. I think it's pretty clear..

If everything else is good, and you're happy with the armrest itself, I think the seller just needs to pay for some springs and everyone's happy. I really couldn't image two springs costing more than a few dollars..

Yeah I agree. The arm rest looks awesome. Just get the seller to pay whatever the springs cost and move on. If you dont want the armrest, some one else does.

ArmyBimmerDude, he is not going to locate the spring for me. I've posted a WTB thread asking for the spring, I would even pay for that spring myself, but as Jason and Evan have indicated to me, I cannot buy that spring alone, from BMW. I'm hoping there are split armrest owners who did not and will not use the spring

so basically the springs are misplaced? and these are non replacement parts?

I'd see about a slight price adjustment.

Josh, can you design/custom fabricate these springs for our canuck friend?

Jeez there are tons of spring vendors out there. If someone with this part could somehow send me a spring I would be more than happy to take some measurements and size a spring for you..

Or if they could measure the spring, I would leave enough room to uncoil a few inches on each side it looks like.. I bet ordering a spring and making this based on that picture wouldn't be too bad at all..

Canuck, if you could measure the diameter of that post the spring goes on, and an approximate length, maybe we could get this going for you. The spring rate needs to just be stiff enough to hold up the arm rest correct? We could order some springs and you can bend them up to imitate the pictures? I bet you can do this..

Another question would be - How much is the arm rest? Maybe if its not too much I could get it, and replicate the springs for you? Just throwing a lot of ideas out there. It's probably $2 worth of springs.. No reason for this situation IMO..

hey Josh, thanks for your help dude!

I was in MI visiting my cousin, I will try and meet up with fellow TO E90post member SGXi to measure the dimension of the spring and let you know!

the armrest I believe is around 250 shipped in the US from Tischer, but please don't get it just for my sake I'll feel really bad about it.

I don't understand why people are so petty. Good customer service is > a few bucks lost. Reputation goes a long, long way IMO.

I agree. He went from not knowing about the spring & saying "it's not needed" to "I never said the spring was included in the sale". All I really want is for him to at least TRY and help me in locating a spring, but as you can see from his PMs, he was not very willing to help in any way. The closest resemblance to an apology I got from him was a "sorry that you thought I had misrepresented the product".

I'm putting this thread out there to warn people about him, as he has indicated to me that he's parting out his car and has several items to off load.
