Haha nice Phil! Is that Chuckwalla? I like the use of the roof racks with stuff on them! Did you use that corner balance the car?

Jeezoy, those weren't just little offs in the video. Going off sideways in sand can often end with tires up.

Dan, the nice thing about Buttonwillow is the consistency of the dirt. It's very fine and pumice-like and tends to make rather dramatic dust clouds but I've never personally seen anyone roll and there usually a lot of offs when i run there. After it rains however it's an entirely different story as it turns to mud and flips cars readily. There is a pretty well viewed video of a Miata flipping in the mud a couple years back.
Nice car!

I've personally seen a Mazdaspeed Protege roll at Buttonwillow during the summer. The car understeered off the backsweeper and then rolled 3 revolutions. I'm not saying don't drive at BW, but just be aware that it's possible! Happy safe tracking!

Here is some footage from Buttonwillow mud, where even AWD may not be of much help (especially if you lift LOL) Notice in the beginning of the video some mud marks from other cars.

A shot that belongs here. I was racing my arch nemesis and tried a different line. Unfortunately, that line was coated with clag and a bit of water which resulted in a dukes of hazard style off. I came back on smoothly and lost about 10 car lengths so it could have been a lot more dramatic. In the end, he did win the race.

Sounds like it was playing. If added, sound quality would be of better. Moreover, at 01:23 and 01:36 he briefly switches off and on the engine and the music also disappears and returns.

It's not me nor my car, I just posted this from a fellow owner who shared his experience on the Audi boards. I think he may have added the audio, he's good making videos, in fact he got the RS 4 for 'free' from Audi, they had a free 3-yr lease giveaway to whoever makes the best (video) case why they want the car, and he won. Kinda like what BMW did a couple of months ago for the new 3-series (you had to submit a 5.2 sec video, which is the 0-60 acceleration time of the car ).

Gotcha. Now that I read your sig and the color of your RS4 I see I took a stupid pill. After watching it again I'd put my money on the music was playing in the car. Engine noise and speed affect the sound as well as the ignition cycle seems to point at that. Perhaps Tool isn't the best music to have blasting while on track?

Small world. I was making preparations to buy this car CPO'd from a dealer down in SD but talks ended up breaking down. (Yes, I had seen this video before making the decision!)

Yup, small world indeed. Tim took the car to the track a handful of times, we was generally very good at its upkeep, so I don't think the car was abused. He is a big Audi enthusiast (having had a Stage III B5 S4 before), but I believe once the lease expired he wasn't offered a great deal to buy the car back, plus he wanted something of a 'sharper tool', so he bought a used, Corvette

He sure did! From a lot of us, as in some way we all helped him in 'winning' the RS 4 free lease. You had to vote over the span of IIRC 10 days for best submitted video (you can vote each day once, for a total of 10 votes per person). So a bunch of us would be voting daily for his video and by the end of the campaign he was the clear winner, thanks in large part to the power of msg boards similar to this one. This was a post he put on Audiworld, back in the days when it used kawf and it was actually a good site, sadly sold to internet brands and totally blows since then (fwiw most have transitioned to quattroworld now)

http://forums.audiworld.com/showthre...&highlight=won

PS: sorry for OT, back to offroading BMWs!
