Eibach vs. H&R

I can get either set for around the same price. Which should I really choose?

H&R.

I got to work with Roland at H&R on a project and the whole company was pretty cool to deal with. They have a menu of springs to choose from as far as stiffness and ride height are concerned.

DO NOT LOWER THE CAR TOO MUCH. Unless you fit a full up racing suspension, you will ruin the intrinsic geometry that makes BMWs handle so well.

Looks like H&R are the clear winners. Weird...the salesman told me he had more confidence in the Eibach because he's heard that H&R's bounce more.

He is as dumb as a rock.

Springs bounce. That is exactly what they do.

The job of dampers (aka- shock absorbers) is to, well, dampen the bouncing effect of the springs. Remove the shocks on a vehicle and it will bounce all day long.

The best place to buy H&R springs is through Turner Motorsports (http://www.turnermotorsport.com). They race on H&R and know the products inside and out.

uhm doesn't all of F1 and most of the WRC cars use Eibach. Eibachs ERS line also have the most diverse range of spring rates available period. If you need a custom spring rate they have it. I say Eibach hands down. Their Pro kit is an every day driving spring that keeps every thing close to stock except ride height. they were designed for comfort. If you want to go racing look at their ERS catalogue

I went with the sport. A 2 inch drop with the racing means I might to roll my front fenders.

Nice! That would be my choice also. 2" drop is a bit much for me. Sport is perfect i think.

Post some pics after you install them. Before and after would be nice.

Will surely post pics. Here's what my E90 looks like before the drop...non-sport suspension.

well from my experience, if u want to lower ur car in max condition, u should choose using the eibach coz its softer that H&R if u lower it to much

I have racing springs... no need to roll my fenders and I'm running 19" wheels. Used a 10mm spacer on the rear as well. No rubbing.

i've used eibach [PROKIT] on my prelude and did have the opportunity for h&r at the time. in those cars, a lot of my friends with h&r did "bounce" more. but that could also be that h&r tend to be lower.

Eibach was great though in this car I'm going H&R for a more aggressive drop. Eibach [prokit] my handling improved a lot and it felt stock.

Both are good companies.

I too had eiback pro-kits on my last previous prelude matched with koni yellows set to the lowest position. I noticed over time, my springs sagged a small amount. This was a well discussed topic on the prelude forums. This time, I went H&R.

Side note: Anytime you match aftermarket springs with stock dampers, your gonna get some*bounce*. The only way to eliminate that is pairing them with high-performance shocks.

Anybody ever experienced/tried Koni FSD's (or any other automatically selective dampers/shocks)? The FSD sounds like a great idea for those who are too lazy to manually adjust the firmness of their shocks but I was wondering to what extent these FSD's can stretch (in terms of comfort for a daily driver and in terms of stiffness on the track). I've read the Roundel review of the FSDs but was wondering about the input of E90 owners.

I briefly looked into Koni FSD's. only problem was the price for me, it was coming out to about 800 bucks from shox.com.

They are considered pretty good though, a cheaper alternative to Bilstein PSS9?.

I've decided to go ahead with h&r sports, using existing shocks though, really it came down to price and the fact that they are considered slightly better in terms of performance, but slightly worse in terms of comfort (tirerack). When they wear out, i can just buy the struts in future.

From what i've read and spoken with distributors of both lines (shox.com, tirerack, etc.), eibachs are a very good product too, i don't think people can say h&r are the clear winners. Both are german companies and both sell to companies who rebrand their springs (acs, hartge). H&R were apparently some of the guys who used to work at Eibach. Eibach won't lower as much, but supposedly its a bit more comfortable. H&R lowers a bit more, only .2 more, but its a bit better at handling.

I know when I had eibach prokit in my prelude, i drove for 30k miles and my struts were fine. cant say after that cuz i totalled it.

When it comes down to it, I would just go with what you can get cheaper, and what your care for more, comfort or performance.

ACs rebranding their springs??? i thought they did their own R&D and tested parts. Most of their stuff carries a BMW part number, too and if installed by a certified mechanic, will not void your warranty
