For me it was my turbos. Had aftermarket downpipes and all of sudden heard a sharp pinch noise and the next thing you know all of the road behind me is full of smoke worse then a burnout. Got it towed and fixed up turned out it was a bad turbo bearing causing oil to leak into the exhaust so I got a new turbo. Whats the worse/scariest experience you have had while driving?

Engine coil went out and I thought it was more serious. I got in my car after school and it started shaking violently so called my dad he said someone poured sugar into my gas tank because thats what happened to his old mercedes a long time ago when it started shaking. So that scared the shit out of me, then I called my mom and her friend said it was a lose engine mount. Then called a mechanic and he said it was just a engine coil. So we got it fixed lol

I had a feeling people would have done that, I would have never bought gas from a stranger but I guess desperate times calls for desperate measures for people who really needed it.

Had a belt break in my E34 535i and in the seconds it took me to pull over to the shoulder, the head gasket blew in six places. Needed the head to be pulled, machined and reinstalled. The cooling system on the M30 was notoriously marginal.
Many years ago, as a passenger in a friend's Mustang, engine lost oil pressure and blew a rod. The sound of a slapping rod is pretty horrendous, conjuring up images of all kinds of bad things happening inside the engine. Had to replace the engine. |
