Exclamation 2-series with xDrive

Is there any rumors or speculation on BMW offering an xDrive variant? Considering it would have the same line up as the 3-series, I wonder if a 228i or 235i would have that as an option. I know the M235i, M2, and M2 GC definitely would not.

Thank you in advance.

Yes, the 2 series was described in German press with the possibility of the XDrive option.

M235i is likely to get an xDrive option because it already exists in the M135i, though I expect it won't be engineered for RHD for us UK drivers (too too bad for us)

M2 and M2GC, highly unlikely. That's why BMW have created the whole M Performance range, so they don't have to dliute the top M cars with stuff like softer riding, xDrive etc.

So that's what we've been told anyway. Didn't stop them making the X5M and X6M (yes I know they're a necessary revenue generating evil, bla bla bla)

There is no press release; press releases are made before the car gets on the market-one year from now (a little less).

A very reliable source:
http://www.bimmertoday.de/2012/12/05...vertible-2015/

Auto Bild car magazine
