Looking to buy e93, but have two questions
Hey everyone, new to the bimmer forums, have beening looking around for a few days and there is alot of great information here. I want to get a new 2008 chrimson red e93, but i have two main concerns about getting a e93 vs e92
1. I'm going to mod it, so i want to know that basically, the cars are the same and the only difference is the retractable hard top correct? So the procede and exhusts and all other parts that are out there for the ep2 can be used for the e93 right? The only reason i asked is because i love the look of the many e92 that have been modded with the reinger (spelling) kit and quad exhaust from rd-sport, but i would like to do that on a e93, the parts should be the same fit correct? Instict and an educated guess tells me yes, but just want to make sure. 2. The second thing i want to know is, what is the confidential price for the e93? there are pricing sheets for the e92, but not for the e93 (euro delivery) Also, after reading though many forums and posts about euro delivery, it seems that irv robinson is the man i need to talk to get a great price and also hassle free euro delivery. Although you can find bits and peices of information all around, can someone explain the process from starting to end. I'm located in dallas tx, so if anyone knows of any good BMW dealers that know the ins and out of euro delevery like irv, then i would love to try them, otherwise i have no problem dealing with irv over the phone and fax. he seems to be a great guy even though i havent even spoken to him yet. any input will be helpful and if anyone has any pics of modded chrimson red e93, i would love to see them. |

To my knowledge, (and eyes) the E93 and E92 are only same from the A pillar forward. If you look at the two cars side by side, you will notice that the E93 door is noticably longer and shorter in height than the E92 door. Also the trunks are different, so the back ends must be different as well. They do have same wheels though.

ok, so that means, that the engine bay is the same, and them front end is the same. so the front lip would fit could and engine mods for e92 will work for e93 as well. what about the rear end though? will the reninger (spelling) rear diffuser fit the e93, i ask because on na motorsports website, it shows no parts for the e93

Yes - Reiger will fit e93. Front, side skirts and rear - all compatible. The only difference is trunk design. Exhaust system is the same on both. Bumpers front and rear are the same too. Suspension is the same although the spring rating is different for the rear. I've got KW V3 - same setup as specified for the e91 touring.
Enjoy your new e93! Here is a pic with quads fitted and wheels/KWs awaiting install

if you want the option to drive with the top down go with the e93 if its not that important to you then go with the e92. i personally will take the good with the bad with the e93, but of course to each there own. |

Rieger should fit the e93 just fine, perhaps different design for the deck lid spoiler. Procede will obviously work and all suspension parts will fit as well. Rd sport quads will fit the e93...they are basically the same car with the exception of the roof and trunk.
Good luck hope the waiting period isn't too bad for ya. Congrats in advance.

thank you every one for all the help, the main reason i do want an e93 over the 92 is the fact that its is a hard stop convert. I like the fact that its looks almost just like the coupe when top up, but then you can drop it down, plus the weather down here is so nice (most of the time) that is would be nice to drop the top down once in a while. I'm also going with the dekota (spelling) black leather, and aluminum tirm, i really wanted the coral red inside, but that would be like a see of red, just couldent take it, i already have had a black car, so i dident want that, and coral red inside, so i choice to let the red interior go and go with the red outside.
Why do you say, the e93 will have rattles compared to e92? thanks for the advice, i will be getting hold of irv soon. |

hmmm much more sleek and fluid and better? hey i can understand if the coupe is your preference, but just because you don't like something doesn't make it worse. As for the rattle you and others have mentioned.. I expect it to make some sort of noise, after all the roof isn't attached the way a coupes is, lets hope they fine tuned this with the 08.. but the main reason people buy the e93 is to not have a roof at all. |

the roof rattle is really interesting, i had no idea, that this would be a problem with a hard top. does anyone know exactly what part of the roof rattles? I'm willing to pay the extra for the drop top, but not if its not going to work perfectly, then it would just seem to be a waste of money to me. I love the idea of a hard top convert and want to get it over the e92 (which is a awesome car to begin with, and will get that if not the e93) can soneone that has a e93 and experianced the roof rattle explain more about it. exactky what part of it is rattling, and if so, is there a tsb by bmw for it? maybe they will have it fixed for 08? Its not right for bmw to charge such a large amount over the coupe if the fit and finish is not on par. some more input from e93 owners would help alot. thanks everyone

In a convertible you have to expect some cowl shake, rattle, wind noise, and minor leaks. But trust me, the open top makes the car so much more enjoyable. It is also miles better than a conventional softtop. The 400lb weight penalty is well worth it. Mine has just over 3000km on it and there is no roof rattle. Like others have said, the only difference between the E92 and E93 are the top and the related mechanism so everything else are basically interchangeable. Here is what i have done to mine:

Heh. If I had to be couped up in a coupe w/ just a sunroof I'd be highly stressed. I'm a bit of a claustrophobe so I enjoy open air driving every second I can. No rattles for me BTW.
