Having a father who was an advanced police driver , who also believed speed wasn't the problem but poor driver training i can assure you that i don't hang around.
Its just that this level of fuel economy and the performance im getting is .... well a bit strange in my book ? |

I managed to eek about 550 miles out of a tankful (80 litres) of diesel in my wife's Disco 3, I even managed to get the OBC to read 31MPG whe I was cruising at 75 on the M62 That is going sum in a 2.7tonne 4x4 with auto box. Filling it up hurts though - £75 |

My record fill at the moment is 55.39 litres into the 63 litre tank of the E46, at which point I had covered 575 miles since the previous fill-up (500 is more normal).
Having plotted my fuel usage over the past couple of years I have found that there is a very strong correlation between fuel consumption and average speed. The faster I go the better the economy. Get stuck in traffic and the economy of anything plummets.

I think the 55.39 was the only time I've seen the low fuel light come on. Normally I fill at about a 1/4 tank indicated which works out to about 50 litres.
Give me a few weeks and I can report on the E91!

I'm averaging about 30mpg at the mo in my 330D (mapped),looks like I'm being unrealistic in thinking the new 335D will be a tad more economical. Oh well, life's a bitch! |

Best I ever managed with the 320d e46 was just over 600 miles on one tank, 500+ was every fill. Over 50,000 miles it averaged 46. On a weeks trip to Scotland and back it averaged 50MPG over three tanks of fuel.
The 120d is currently averaging around 47 to the gallon over 4000+ miles and the 335d is doing about 33 overall at present. Regards Chris

In my E91 320d I did a regular journey to Plymouth and back home, 650 miles in total, I could just about do it on one tank of diesel which is about 50 MPG. That was done at a constant 75-80 in cruise if the motorway allowed.

All I know is my 335 is better than my last car an 06 R32, which most of the time would do between 180 - 220 miles to £50 - shocking!

I've been regularly filling up once the OBD gets to about 30 miles. Anybody know why the low fuel indicator comes on consistently about 77miles to go?
I've never managed to get more than about 55 litres in the tank. The OBD currently reports about 45mpg and reckons I have 103miles to go. Current trip reads at 467 miles since last fill up So I reckon I will be filling up after covering about 540 miles - which is pretty much consistent each tankful
