Illinois Vanity Plate
Did anyone request a vanity plate when buying a car from an Illinois dealer? My dealer stated that they are unable to issue/obtain vanity plates when applying for the initial title/registration. Instead, they referred me to the Secretary of State office and I got the form to apply for the vanity plate from there.
On the form, it asks for the current license plate number, but I don't have one yet. Should I just wait for the new plate to arrive and then apply, or apply with my temporary license plate number? I think it was rather dumb of my dealer to not want to apply for the custom plate, even though the Secretary of State allows them to. Has anyone ever been in or heard of this situation? Thanks.

weird, i ordered new vanity plates when I bought my 335i at Fields. They did it for me, I just had to fill out a booklet that they gave me.
