Sorry to hijack the thread, how can you tell if they are gen. or replicas? I have just bought a E93 335 with these wheels fitted and would like to know if they are real!

Cheers

Generally on the inside of the wheel it is stamped whether it is BMW, BBS etc. CM Wheel replicas do not have it.

Another clue is the M Sport badge - it came without it so I had to buy and stick one on.

Visually though no difference.

Did they all come with the 'M' badge embossed near the centre? I can't remember what I hhave to be honest, I do have a sticker around the edge which say Motorsport blah blah or something but it has actually been completely laquered over not just stuck on there?!

edit- just found a link with the same as mine.... http://www.alloywheelsdirect.net/bmw...ance_wheel_541

Basically genuine do not have an M-Sport colour sticker near the centre hub (basicall just the centre cap), while CM Wheels / replicas do (embossed sticker, recessed below the surface of the wheel).

Not sure about all other replicas though but already a good starting point!

Ok cool thanks, will check later, quite sure I dont have the centre sticker so probably genuine (has runflats fitted so presume they may be from new).

Anyway good luck with the sale, either way they look mint!

Not entirely true - there are 2 types of genuine 313 wheels:

One with the M badge under the center cap, the other being the performance (basically the same but more of an assessory part)!

The performance 313 do not have the M badge but have performance written on a spoke!

If they have RF, I'd say genuine but the best way to check, is if the BMW part numbers are stamped on the back of the wheel!

Not actually correct. Genuine wheels also have the msport sticker on the wheel below the hub, depends on what year bought, and weather it was a factory option or bought from bmw after.

Exactly.
BMW Performance 313 (accessory) have BMW Performance written between the spokes on the lip of the rim, and no M badge near the bolt holes (as per my 130i).
The 313's which came on certain Performance edition cars which BMW have been selling for the last 2 or 3 years have the M badge but don't have the "BMW Performance" lettering.

Easiest way to check is to get the wheel off and see what numbers are stamped on the back...

That's a scary amount of balance weights being used. Is that down to the wheels or the tyres?
