I'm not sure what that timing slip is supposed to be telling us, but to do a 2.5 second 0 - 100kph wouldn't you need to pull more than 1/10 of a gravity in acceleration? If the slip is accurate and is for an M5 BMW, I'd love to see the tires and suspension changes done to allow it!

Looking forward to the videos

0-100km/h in 2,5s sounds allmost unbelievable. Guess those Pirelli Corsa System Tyres (semi-slicks) are some really grippy tires.

Great that you will post videos of the car and use the timing device to show acceleration times. Most interested in the 100-200 run as that one is not that influenced by the way grippier tires (would be interesting to see how quick a std. M5 was from 0-100 with the same tires).

This is really cool and look forward to the progress here

I wish car magazines did this test. This is real street running conditions.

Agreed! 1000%. This can tell you as much as the quarter mile does. And a great way to compare cars that might not thrive off the line.
Which obviously is mutually exclusive from road course tests. Purely straight line performance.

April 1st release of video eh. better be not April joke.

2.5 0-100kph is stupid fast. 2.5 0-100kph you are squashing that bug that is GTR from 0 and taking on lambos up top. 60-130mph is where it's at because that is what you see on the street 90% of the time. Again hard to fathom but difference using slicks is significant but 2.5 still is 2.5 from RWD car. Holy batman

Await videos

I've noticed the 0,1G on other recordings as well. Both on the Racelogic device and on other acceleration apps.

Many devices use a 0,1G trigger value to start measuring, it might be just this value that is displayed.

That will account for the 0-100 in 2.5 seconds, which in an M5 even with 1000hp and Mickey Thompsons is bullshit. Just cruise gently up to 60km/h and then floor it for a 2.5

Mystery solved

I think you may be correct. Manhart 100-200km/h runs shows clearly 1.7g on racelogic.
PP Busted. That would explain why it took so long to get vbox times documented and even when they post vbox, it is suspect. Now i know why they post dyno crap all the time. I was hoping for 2.5s to be true but i guess if it sounds too good, it is probably BS

0-62mph in 2.5 seconds is fast.

I have experience of Mitsubishi Evo's and Nissan Skyline GTR's (the older ones, not R35). These even in a very high state of tune circa 700-800 Wheel horsepower struggle to get below 2.9 seconds on normal asphalt.

They weigh a good 300kg's less than an M5, have 4WD, sticky tyres (Nitto 888's) and sequential dog engagement boxes. If they can't get down to 2.5 on anything other than a 'glued' dragstrip, there is no way on earth a big fat, RWD M5 is going to get there, even with a million horespower.

My conclusion is the claim intimated in post one is absolute shite.
