What's up with my battery???

So when I arrive at my destination and I turn the car off and listen to music for a little after about 1 minute a warning comes on saying "battery low" and it turns off. In all the other cars I have driven you can sit listening to music without the car on for ages. Could this be related to the recent recall related to the battery? Also I have idrive and the logic 7 sound system. This happens even when the music is not loud.
Cheers,
Al

Your battery is about to take a dump. Has nothing to do with recall.

That symptom could also result from a bad IBS causing improper charging.

If you have an 07 you are due for a battery

If you have an 07 you are due for a battery
Average battery lifetime is 6 years on a car that is driven .
If you fall into the low mileage or let it sit for extended periods
of time your battery could be bad in as little as two years.

http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...hlight=battery

http://www.bawarec.ru/manuals/3er/e9...3er-e90-12.pdf

When the battery goes bad to a large extent it can be very hard to jump the
car. Sometimes people can get the car to start when this happens by disconnecting the IBS sensor at the battery distribution block.

Your car is only two years old... you shouldn't be having any issues with your battery

Disagree that the battery might not be the problem especially if this is a low mileage car. If the dealership says it is OK be suspect by the way. I think it is your battery and check your paperwork for the battery as I thought it was good for 2 years replacement then pro rated there after. Remember BMW doesn't warranty the battery typically they fall back on the manufacture in this case either Exide or Douglas.

One thing I would do immediately if get a Deltran Battery Tender or CTEK intelligent charger and begin using it as often as you can. It keeps the battery topped up and will not over charge.
Replacing your battery isn't cheap if you let the dealer do it so try to save your battery. I say try because my experience when they do this they are on their last legs.

As an example of what a tender can do is that I am on year 9 for my M3/4 and now over 6 years on my E93...

Yeah your battery needs to be changed soon, I have a 07 as well and changed it around 65k. Did not have a problem after that especially when I installed my musica trunk subwoofer

I had this happen the other day and what caused it was....The following was on when engine was not running. 104k miles 06 330i
(Yes I know im due for one, but it hasnt ever done it till other day)

-Seated seats on 3
-Blower on
-Radio on pretty loud
-Running lights on (but not headlights)

Ya it was accident, I didnt notice how much I had on I was tired and it was early in morning before work. Anyways if you run just radio it will go like 2+hrs without issue....With all that it took like 40min or so lol.

I bought OEM at the dealership since AM batteries at Walamart or Auto Part sotres are around $110.00 mind as well buy OEM for $30.00 dlls more. I paid total around 156 after taxes. My battery is the Acid kind (white color) and not AGM so no need for registering according to BMW parts.

What color is your battery will depend on registering it or not. Also, if you buying AM with different specs you need it registered and have t re- programmed as well.

Interesting. I'll have to take a look at mine. I'm still on my original battery. I think I should probably replace mine soon. Nearly 8 years...

My 04 X3's battery crapped out last summer in the parking lot. 7 years sounds like the limit on these batteries.

Yeah mine finally took a dump after a couple of years of slow cranks and features not working properly. Got away with it all this time. Yeah 8 yrs is pretty good as avarage life on these batteries is about 5. Changing it yourself will save lots of cash!! Its easy thakns to the DIY here..

Good luck!
