Rust on rotor brand new 2012 335I coupe

Hi guys, hoping you guys can help me in figuring out how to remove some rust that is on my rear driver side rotor. I have a little rust on the other's as well, but not as bad as the rear rotor. What can I do? Should i buy something specific to spray to get rid of the rust? How should I do it? I was thinking in removing the tires and just spraying it down with the right spray to get rid of it. I do not understand how a brand new 2012 335I can obtain rust on the rotors, even if it's a little bit. I bought the car last June. Any help is greatly appreciated as I want to handle this on Wednesday, howver not sure what the best way of getting rid of it is.

*Note: When i say it's on the rotor not literally, it's like surround the outer area, it looks easy to clean, just want some advice.

Thanks.

Pull the rotors, wire brush and paint the hats? They'll still rust eventually; they're iron. When it's time to replace the front rotors, get the rotors from the Z4 35is; the rotor hats are aluminum.

If the rotor isn't OEM it tends to rust faster. As mentioned above, remove rotor and clean rust followed by rust paint.

Phosphoric acid will assist removal. So will citric acid. Little more exotic and possibly better is gluconic acid.

OTOH, who cares? Surface rust is normal. If anxious about it, blast off, assuring a grippy surface, and apply a thin, very high temp coating. A coatings mfg can help you there. Or, plate the non-swept area.

There. Plating. Excellent corrosion resistance and uniform, assuring good balance. And just imagine the options!!!!

Those of the gold teeth persuasion will be drawn to the first choice, but mainstream BMW owers will like the second. 3rd very very popular in Oakland, CA.

The rust is normal and won't hurt anything. My rotors showed rust just a few weeks after I took delivery. I've agreed to just ignore it.

Buy some new rotors OEM preffered and you will not see rust for a while.

+1

LOL to all of the other responses. If a car sits for a few days outside (i.e., dealership lot), some surface rust is completely normal and will disappear within a few miles of driving. You should have nothing to worry about, unless there is pitting, which I highly doubt there is. If the brake hat itself has some rust, a wire brush and scotch brite pad should take care of most of it.
