Scratched my car last night

Well last night, while at the shopping centre my wife was loading up the grocery when a gust of wind caused the trolley to move and hit the side of the rear passenger panel

I dont think it would of damaged if I had not bought a cheap screwdriver set and that was sticking out one of the grates with one of the heads exposed. So pissed off right now. its about 10cm. Could not sleep!!!

Sorry to read about your unfortunate issue.
Time to take action & have the panel repaired. Perhaps people who specialise in dent repairs like this mob (I just Googled car dent repairs) may help.

http://www.1300dentrepair.com.au

There are quite a few to choose from.
Best wishes

Morrie is the best. Hope he can fix it. Any chance to upload a photo of the damage?

Well the guy is a friggin genious.................He got the scratch out.
Initially he thought maybe to deep. He used a heavier abrasive and bam gone, and he measured how much he took off and it was only a couple of microns. And.............he also re coated my rear quarter with wolfs hard body all on the house............bloody legend! Awesome customer service!!!
:thum sup:
I will have to fix him up with a 6 pack or something

And you lost all those hours of sleep for nothin!!!
You can probably thank your initial coat of Hard Body, which in all probability, saved the day. Of course there's a limit to its strength, but I think that's what was sacrificed in saving your paintwork from damage.

Well done to Morrie of course. Best detailer in the business!

Hard Body is brilliant. So much so, it makes washing my car so easy. Pressure wash foam, 2 bucket wash, blow dry and Meguiar's Ultimate Quik Detailer. Boom! Job done!!!

Exactly what Morrie said re hard body. He reckons because the surface had a micron or 2of hard body that, that would have caused the screw driver to slide a little and thus saving the paintwork. He feared if no hard body, it would have caused more damaged. He did mention that in our f30's that BMW have a ceramic thats in the clear coat making our paint as hard as nails also.

Yes, lost a nights sleep but will make up with it this arvo hahaha!
Will have to try the meguires ultimate quik detail

Take a look at what HB is capable of. Second video:
http://www.wolfschemicals.com/en/ter...----hard-body-

Yes, the BMW and Mercedes clear coats are very hard, which also helps. Japanese clear coats not very hard at all.

After washing and drying, squirt on some of the QD (black plastic spray bottle), gently spread over the panel with soft MF cloth and once spread, gently wipe dry with dry MF cloth. Then wait for it to rain next & watch in amazement at how well the water beads.

Both are terrific sealants and each offers a high level of protection, provided they are applied properly. Opti-Coat is a ceramic clear coat, whereas Hard Body is a nano sealant. Take a look at their respective websites for more details:

I would say opticoat is not as glossy as HB, but they are both different are they not. Opticoat is a ceramic coating?

they're both ceramic sealants. I'd be surprised if anyone could tell the difference in which coatings had been used based on perceived " glossy-ness"

According to Jessie from Wolf's Chemicals, HB isn't a ceramic based sealant. It's a product that Mr Wolf (identity unknown, just referred to as The Wolf) took around 2 years to develop. Amazing stuff but WC don't disclose what the chemical makeup of HB is other than it being a nano sealant.

Ok, I'm going I know.

You need to get past the marketing guff mate.

"Ceramic" is not a type of sealant, neither is "nano". One's a process descriptor and the other is, well in this case, from the Greek nanos, meaning dwarf. I don't think Dwarf Sealant is a thing (although some imaginative images spring to mind). I would have been more correct in saying that they're both polymer sealants, both of which bind to a surface at a molecular level (which is where I'm guessing the misuse of "nano" comes into it) and after hardening provide a clear, ceramic-like finish.

I admit I haven't been arsed running a spectrograph analysis on the two compounds to determine the differences, if any, but they're the same thing. Polymer sealants.

I never got involved. Before I had Hard Body put on my car, I researched it somewhat, even though there wasn't much technical info. I based my choice on the company's history, products and my detailer's advice.

I could easily have gone the Opti-Coat way, but at the time I was unaware of its existence.

Yes, if you want to have them on an 'equal' basis. But as I mentioned, they are both terrific products.

Not so much a misuse, but because of the molecular level of application/binding, it was/is an apt name for people to understand. Yes, it may be a little too 'scientific' but it does get the message across. As you are well aware, the use of nano will be a household word in the not too distant future - whether it is used in its correct context or not.

Ahhhh, yes. Ceramic-like. Again, an apt way of explaining the finished product for most people to understand.
