the only way to bulk up is good diet and training or steroids!

the latter is the easiest option, however its also a fast track to Chd...

just increase your protein intake, 1.5grammes per pound of bodyweight per day and also slightly increase your carbs and finally get down the gym and hit the wieghts! dont forget to train the most important muscle in your body though (your heart) make sure you do at least 2 cardio sessi0ons a week

I am the same height as you yet i carry about 16-1/2stone... I think a good weight would be 11-12-1/2 for a nice athletic physique

i have never taken any drugs and dont want to start now. so that rules out roids

what is CHD anyhow?

what consists of a cardio session compared to just a training session?

whats the downsides of ''bulking up'' will up just make me bigger or healthier aswell?

never been to te gym in my life, what sort of weights and type of training do i need to do down there? if you know that is?

is it something i will need to keep up over a long period of time and is it true if i suddenly stop it will all turn to fat?

how many times a week and when will i see any results?

thanks very much matey

chd is basically heart disease... brought on by narrowing of the arteries and fatty deposits clinging to the aerterial walls.. (cholesteral)

I know many bodybuilders who have died now asw a result of steroid abuse... one day they will listen!

3-4 days a week training is the way to go, each day do 20mins cardio before your weights, getting bigger doesnt mean un healthy as long as you do it right.
when you stop the muscle doenst turn to fat! muscle has memory and its always there it just looses "tone" when people loose significant muscle bulk quickly this is a good example of steroids, they hold alot of water therefore give the bigger fuller appearance, but when they are stopped the weight and bulk dissapears.

my advice for training tips etc is go on maxmucscle website or search for training tips... however, everyone is different and we all respond to different excersies so you really have to find what works for you.

Good diet & get down that gym.

Do not do too much cardio work, just concentrate on weight training.

Any good gym will have someone who can advise.

most personal trainers at gyms know fcuk all mat.... I have been training over 10 years and I have personal experience, you "must" do cardio! just not excessive amounts.. i.e x-trainer is good as it helps to build on stamina and endurance yet doesnt give you all over body weight losses like running does..

Four meals a day and plenty of snacks! You'll be 11 stone in no time

Give creatine a try, some people react to it, some don't, but it's worth a shot. Creatine these days is easy and quick to take, many don't require fruit juice and/or loading phases. Be careful with your protein intake, it can raise your caloric intake and not only add muscle, but add a layer of fat on top of it...definitely not what you want. Calories = energy....unused energy = fat.

Oh, and low reps, compound exercises will also help a bit.

I agree, still do your cardio. Don't get hung up on your actually body weight, go get a tanita done (you muscle and fat index), then you can actually see in a couple months where your gains are coming from and make routine changes according to the index. You may not go up in "stone" numbers, however, if you're losing fat and gaining muscle, that's what you want!!!

Hey Carlos

Started to go to the Gym about a year ago now, was about 9 stone and am a bit more than 10 now (for 5'8 height)

Luckily enough got access to the gym with my work, but to start got advice from a personal trainer and keep seeing the guy 1 or twice a month for follow up. He give me program and then you got to commit....... the hard bit lol.

Food wise, I do not eat junk, but increase protein (meat, eggs, beans...) on the day I go to the gym (after the session though)

And it seems to work hey...

Hope that's help
