Impressions of the M3 at the `ring
As most of you know I took the M3 to the `ring last weekend with Peppernick and another 8 guys from BMWLand/Evotechnik.
I was a bit unsure as to how the M would cope being 4 yrs old and only having a weeks experience of driving it but it performed faultlessly. Outright grunt and cornering speed are on a different level compare to my old E90, the harder you push the more it steps up to the mark. So much so that I was lapping around 9 mins instaead of 10. After slowing to let a fully track specked Exige pass on a straight (he`d been behind for a while, catching me at the bends and falling behind on the sraights and I wanted to follow his lines) we kept with him for a few bends, very slowly slipping back from him. When just before the mini-carrousel, where the chicane is (that you can more or less straight line at about 100 mph) he clipped the curb, slid sideways, caught it again, then veered across the grass, slamming into the armco, spun, hit the back of the car into the armco, then slid along it before coming to a rest prob. 100 metres from where he initially hit it. Both the driver and passenger climbed out OK but a bit shaken to say the least, the Exige on the other hand was completely fcuked, the cabin was perfect, no doubt thanks to the full roll cage but the rest had completely disintergrated. This really hit home how quickly things can go from superb to catastrophic. While standing with the driver, waiting for the rescue car Peppernick drove past with a mod from BMWland as a passenger obviously seeing my car with the hazzards on and the Exige in pieces he assumed the worst and drove past with a hand over his mouth. Wish I could`ve got a pic of that. Anyway, I`ll stop rambling now and post some pics of the car in action and a rather handsome young man driving. Last edited by mikem; 12-16-2007 at 09:41 AM.. |

They would have told you if any of your posts were 'modified', for any reason, if at all. Either it's been changed by someone else, whilst you were still logged on with your computer; you've done it without realising or your account has been hacked (which I very much doubt). What exactly was the change to your post? Viv |
