328i m Performance Exhaust reviews needed!!

I'm thinking about getting the m Performance exhaust for my 328i F30 and have seen tons of videos of the exhaust noise but still need some input on the exhaust from owners who have had them installed.

Some reviews I read said that the exhaust isn't that loud, ie not a huge difference from the stock exhaust. What do you guys think? Did the exhaust meet your expectations? Would you buy the same BMW one or another one if you were to do it again? Any noticeable performance gains at all?

The reason why I haven't pulled the trigger yet on the exhaust is because I have heard it in person. I've read from a few places that says the exhaust is not loud but you'll hear a difference compared to stock. IMO, anything will sound different from the dead silent stock exhaust.

If it sounded anywhere near the e90 performance exhaust, I will get it in a heart beat.

No proven gains reported yet, while the much cheaper exhaust by active auto claims some hp and tq gains.

I know people have been wanting to hear sound from inside the cabin with windows up. Here ya go. A nice deep tone when accelerating.

Thanks for posting that.. Honestly I don't hear the difference, no burble.... Maybe in person it sounds way different..

I have one installed I wouldn't categorize as loud by any means, but it's definitely noticeable particularly after the run-in period. No gains.

Are those black tips on your M Performance Exhaust in your external video?

Haha no. Inner part of the exhaust is just dark from soot I never cleaned up. The soot accumulates relatively quickly. Outside of exhaust looks a little dark probably from the shadows.

I have it too. It's definitely noticeable but not loud. And it burbles nicely when the revs drop

Just had it installed. Deeper voice, and I've managed to squeeze some burbles out of it. My concern now is there's a short-lived drone in the cabin when changing gears or accelerating slowly.

I'm suspending judgement until the exhaust is broken in. What is a good break-in period...2-3 weeks?

I love the exhaust, I was excited to do some recording with my recently acquired GoPro and Mic setup at a track event last weekend...I made one small oversite though, I forgot to turn the Mic on

Anyone have it installed in North/Central Jersey on a 328i?

I am considering having the performance exhaust installed at the port on my 328i order, due in about a month. I would like to listen the exhaust first in person. Is there Anyone in North or Central New Jersey that has it installed on a 328i that wouldn't mind me coming by to listen to it?

I'm waiting for mine too...its killing me, longest 3 months ever. Is there any advantage to having it installed at the port? It can't come from the factory equipped right? No way to bypass the installation cost?

The argument for a port install is that they are probably the most experienced at doing any of the BMW aftermarket installations.

But since you have already ordered your car, it's too late to opt in for any port installations. You must request them at the same time you order your car.

Not true. My car was on the ship and I added the OEM 4 wheel BBK. I would have had them add the exhaust but it wasn't available at that time.

Best parts of having the VPC do the work is that it is done correctly, car goes through final inspections before dealers do their prep work and the 'add-ons' are also registered as part of how the car was built. Icing on the cake, no additional charges for the installation at VDC something the dealership, as a reseller, most likely would not do.

My car was on the ship about a month ago when I tried to add black grille and carbon fiber for port install, and my CA said that BMW is now requiring port installations to be ordered at the same time as the car.

So it sounds like a policy shift. Either way OP, no harm in asking.

I had my M performance for a little bit over half a year and I love it. you can hear that burble sound when switching in between gear. Also you hear it pop when revving and down shift.

It can be a little bit louder but overall i'm liking it. This exhaust is good for someone who wants to have some noise but not over the top. It does not drone at all btw. You can have a conversation with someone in the car while gunning it lol.

Indeed, but I haven't been to the track since. I may try to do a AutoX in August or Sept.

Hi guys, I just picked up a new 2013 328i Msport. I had a chat with the Brisbane BMW dealer about getting the M performance exhaust fitted, he didn't recommend it and said it would likely void my warranty. Does anyone have any feedback on this?
Cheers,

Yes. He's an idiot. Your fine since it's bmw parts. I just got mine and it's great for someone who wants to maintain their warranty in particular.
