What my opticoat detailer told me is that its ok to add the extra sacrificial layer of wax over the opticoat but the wax won't last long. So feel free to apply the wax before a road trip or something if you want extra protection from bugs and such but when you wash the car next, the wax will probably come off.

you don't need the extra protection. The only time to add something is if you want to boost some shine.

In fact, adding wax on top can cause contaminants and dirt to stick worse than Opti-Coat (which is very good at shedding crap). Not to mention the wax will only last a couple days, as opti-coat will shed it off.

Just use a Quick Detailer to boost shine and be done with it.
