Hey guys I am new to this forum site and I have just recently bought my first BMW. I previously owned a 2006 Dodge Charger RT. It was modified down up so I have a lot of experience to engine modifications. Please Check out my 6 part review on the 320i. This car has been released here in Canada and soon to be in the U.S.A. Also in the part 6 video review I talk about the BMS tune. I probably sound a little aggressive in my video to not use piggy back systems but if there is some more feedback on these tunes I would be happy to purchase the BMS and do a complete youtube review. I've posted in the "BMS vs. AFE tune" feed my questions. If someone can help me out here that would be great. Anyways guys enjoy the vids.

I have repeated myself several times in these vids. Bare with me guys my first video posts on the net!

Thanks. I will be posting another video once i get the bms tune installed. I am still waiting for it in the mail. In the vid i'll explain why i have changed my mind from using a piggy back system. Ill also see if i can get something to record my launch times a bit more accurate to show everyone the performance increase. I am thinking that it will be a lot more noticeable on this car than the 328.

I will be interested to see your opinion on the BMS tune. I stumbled upon n54tech.com the other day (I started a thread on here just wondering about the mod potential of the 320i a while back, so I did a little googling) and was reading an old post by Terry (the guy who develops these tunes) that made me wonder if there is a lot more potential with tuning the 320i than yet realized. The post I read was a couple months old, but seemed like he was hesitant to add too much boost, since there has been varying information flying around regarding whether or not the 328i and 320i both have the same compression ratio. As of that posting, it sounded like he was thinking the 320i had 11:1 ratio, so he was worried about knocking. I believe it has since been confirmed that both the 328 and 320 are running 10:1. I'm interested to see how much power will reliably come out of one of these detuned engines.

Nearly all 20i's have 11:1 compression. The pistons are different. Currently the only 20i with 10:1 compression is found on the X3/X1.

Yes thats right. My car as 11:1 ratio. Its harder to squeeze performance out of higher compression engines. All i want is the torque! These cars are so quick off the line with the ZF trannys. I can already beat my buddy in his 2012 GLI off the line. Cruising at a 100 km/h and going WOT is where this car needs a little help. Hopefully this tune will improve this problem.

Just got the tune today. I am going to email terry and ask him how to setup the stage 1 for the 320i. I bought the usb cable so it should be fairly easy. I also need to use up the rest of my gas! I swear the gas mileage with 89 octane is amazing driven 598km....still 140km to go.

Weird, do you think your Canada-spec 320i would be different from the US model in terms of compression ratio? I just checked bmwusa, and they list it as 10:1 on the spec sheet. Here's the link where I read it on BMW's site: http://www.bmwusa.com/Standard/Conte...fications.aspx

The specs are probably wrong cos from the latest ETK the US-spec pistons are identical to the high compression EU-spec pistons.

Oh, now that's interesting. First BMW I've encountered that didn't require premium fuel.

Ok guys i've installed the bms stage 1 on my car...unbelievably better. If you had any fears of not seeing a drastic change in performance from buying this tune than worry no more. The power band is insane! For $400, you get a $hit load of more power; plus its a plug and play system. I have never seen such a power increase from any other mod i have wasted my money on in the past!

I'll do a run down for everyone...

The only mod i have done prior to installing the bms tuner is replace the stock air filter with a K&N. i did that because i knew i was going to buy this tuner and i wanted to ensure that there was minimal restriction for the air intake.

Next i filled my tank with 94 octane. The bms presets can run on 91 octane however i wasn't sure if i was going to notice a difference in power with the +3 psi preset and wanted to be able to add the extra pound of boost. If you decide to run +4psi then its suggested that you use 93 octane.

The install was fairly easy. I came to realize that i have the n20 engine with the pneumatic solenoid...

I took the car for a spin and i noticed it right away in comfort mode. The boost stays on much longer and it makes such a difference! Sport mode now feels like the car is on steroids!! The revs and shifts points are much faster! I can't believe how satisfied i am. I am not even considering to crank up the boost. Thats how amazing this tune is.

I took it on the highway aswell and it drives great. When you want to pass someone, you have way more power on the top end to do so and it requires less effort.

Guys i'll make a youtube video review within the next few days and you will easily see what Iam talking about. The 5 vids i made with the stock settings are only going to support my claims of how good the bms tune is. I honestly believe that my 0-60 times are somewhere in the low 6 second range!

iam making a new video...I made way too many videos and I wanted to condense the info now that our cars have been out for a bit. I will post the new link once I upload it into YouTube. I also now have the bms stage 1 installed so my review will change.

That's PERFECT! Can you still send me the original videos. I'm trying to make my decision asap, it doesn't matter if they're long (in fact, that is better!)!

Message me if you can privately upload them or something.

Thanks!
