I think you only have a CD player with NAV or Tech Package.

U can play dvd on 6.5" screen but that can only be done with an aftermarket solution.

Interesting question.

When I bought my car this was listed as standard option:

Code 698: Area code 2 for DVD.

I have the standard screen with no navigation. Was wondering why this would be stated if no DVD video playback is possible?

Your comments most welcome.

Have you tried a DVD in the player? The car has to be stopped. Go to CD/Multimedia in iDrive and see if a DVD menu pops up. If you have DVD capability, it should start on its own.

Tried a DVD before whilst the car was parked in the garage. Didn't want to play the DVD.

Hence me wondering why it states Code 698: Area code 2 for DVD as standard option.

It's a standard option code, all BMWs have it even if no idrive.
