New software out for NBT

I'm bringing my car into the dealer in about 30 minutes for some warranty work. I'm going to print this out and ask them about it

It takes <5 minutes to download, install it yourself.

How do I do it myself? I was more going to ask them what it's about because I don't quite understand the upgrade. It looks like it now says who sent you a text message on the navi screen (instead of just an envelope) but takes away the functionality to call back or delete. Not sure if I want that.

The person I spoke to didn't know about it so I didn't press the issue.

Actually, this particular update does not apply to you, as your car has the older CIC Nav.

Eventually, your car might get this update, and you can follow the instructions on the sit above. I think you may be misunderstanding the features of this update, as it relates to iOS 6 messaging.

This is UPD01006 which was released in February/March.

It is not new.

Upd05011 is new, but only for NBT.

You don't have NBT Nav, so it won't work on your car.

Interesting, the link you posted earlier showed an update, which I was able to apply on my lunch break.

That link takes you to the general update page. You enter the last 7 of VIN and it filters the updates for your car. There was an update for CIC cars from February or so and I bet that's what you applied.

Only MY13 F30 body car for NA market that came with NBT is the AH3.

I have 2013, 328xi.

1. I got an e-mail about a NAV update but the dealer asks $198 for it. I wander if somebody knows a cheaper option for this update.
2. Could my navigation system be of a CIC type (not familiar with this term).

I put the last 7 digits my VIN on the above url and I am getting an error. Tried it multiple times (and rechecked my VIN several times as well

)

Suggestions?

The problem is on their end. Everyone gets it.

It is not you -- the site is down. Some rumours indicate that they are about to release iDrive 4.2 update, maybe including better Siri integration.
