Misfire Cylinder 6 after Cobb AP install
Currently @ 72k
Spark Plugs last changed @ 45k Fuel Injectors changed @ 42k After my Cobb Accessport install last night (Stg1 ST Drive I8A0S v401 Stock Throttle) I got a CEL (misfire cylinder 6). After reading and searching on the forum I realized that I need to either A.) swap my coils to find out if the problem is going to the other cylinder or and/or B.) change my spark plugs. Since I'm changing the coils, I figured I might as well change the plugs as well. Instead of getting ripped off at the dealership, I was planning on replacing the spark plugs since the coil will likely need to be replaced. What brand and model # do you recommend for the coils/plugs? I'm hoping its not carbon build up that's causing the misfire on cyl 6. As of now I flashed my car back to stock and deleted the codes the car is driving like normal. Please help. Thanks! |

Bosch OEM Spark Plugs. Should be changed every 25K Miles.
OEM Coils unless you want to spend money on Okada Upgraded Coils ($1000+). I wouldn't bother changing the coils unless they are the culprit. Change the spark plugs first, you are due for them anyway. Then see if the problem persist. http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=631829 Last edited by Jeff@TopGearSolutions; 05-11-2013 at 03:58 PM.. |

This happened to me the first time I installed COBB. Its normal.
Change plugs. If it continues, change the coils. If it continues do intake cleaning. |

Buy the NGK 5992 (ILZKBR7A-8G) from sparkplugauto.com
Should be around $10/piece. They are one step colder. I just installed these plugs on my car about 1k miles ago and they perform very well. If you buy the ngk you have to gap them. OEM gap is 0.7mm (0.0275")or, 0.56mm (0.022") for high boost. The original gap on the NGK 5992 plugs is 0.8mm (0.031"). |
