Hardwire 9500ix

I just got off the phone with a store that will be able to hardwire a 9500 escort into my 2013 328i bmw, and I am a little worried that it might void my warranty to the car.

I heard that BMW normally has mechanical issues, and if I ever brought this into BMW to fix, they would void the warranty. I called the Audio store, and the said that they would be able to hardwire the unit into the ignition? Does that make sense? Normally, I've seen people do it through the fusebox. Any thoughts on this? Can someone shed some light for me, so I wont be as worried

thank you!

I have a 9500ix hardwired in my 2013 F30. It is hardwared into the fuse box, as I believe it should be. It turns on with the ignition, and does not restart with an A.S.S. shutdown.

By the way, I have the iPhone compatible Smartcord (hardwire version) installed. Attached are pictures of my setup.

If they investigate and find that part caused the issue then they would void only that component not the Car.

I would do the ignition triggered install as they recommended instead of you tapping into any other power source, as it would disable the unit when ignition circuit is open. Most of the electronics in the car is constantly powered even when the car is switched off in BMW. This would cause the power to be constantly active to the external units. Ignition trigger is the safest bet.

I think we are saying the same thing. There are connections in the fuse box that are hot only when the ignition is on, which is what you want. Although some people have complained about the radar detector restarting whenever the A.S.S stops the engine. Mine does not do that.
