Carlos - sorry to hear this. Not easy to tell the extent of damage from the pic, but I suppose it won't just polish out?
Pete - the M Sports don't dent as easy as SE models apparently

Sorry to hear this Carlos. However, does the damage look like it could have been made by a laydee's heel trying to erm, find purchase on the bumper while 'sitting' on the bonnet? Or is it just me? Looks like too small a graze to have been made by something as big as a part of (car) bodywork.
Dunno, but hey, if this happens, I think the mental image of a girl doing the damage with a heel is better than that of some moron in a 4x4 driving into it (you might not feel quite so bad......) Even tell everyone you and your girl did the damage Carlos - wouldn't do your street cred any harm |

sorry to hear that carlos, let us know how you get on with the repair mate
i've got a similiar gash on the rear bumper of my car. certainly ain't high heel mark tho! I also suspect this was done at the dealer... it may t-cut out - fingers crossed I try and lessen the chances of getting dents etc, by going to stupid lenghts - i park at work in an NCP car park, but always take a particular space at the end of a row, parking 2/3's in the space allowing for "moron door swing" even from a 4x4 every time i go back to the car someone is always parked next to it! sheep I say, even with loads of other spaces free. now if its a nice car, i'm happy as the chances are the owner hasn't been a twat and caused damage. (still cant rule it out) i inspect the car (how sad) and ifs theres a dent, i line up where their door would swing etc and put a note on their car asking for insurance details etc. - well this hasn't happened yet - but i'm sure it will do soon i'm tempted to go back to my old mondeo and let the c$%$ batter the shit out of it! |

I don't think you'll need a new bumper. I had a big old gouge on my old car on the boot lid where some tosser (me) opened the lid without noticing there was a low beam... stupid.. anyway, took it to Sytner's in Harold Wood and they had their PDI prep guy look at it. A day later and the damage was completely invisible. What he'd done was flat down the gouge, use an airbrush to respray the affected area, then build up to the original depth using lacquer. Final polish and it really was invisible. They only charged me £95 for the work. Bucket loads cheaper than a new boot lid (or bumper for you)

Carlosingoilbadly,
I think you are getting too hung up about paint - if you can't tell does it matter? Paul

yes, they airbrushed the localised area, then relacquered. And you really really can't tell it's there at all. It's better than getting whole new bumper - it's actually harder to match the paint with such a big piece - a small localised respray is the way to go!

I've become so p****d off with it (£1400 worth of damage over 2 years and 2 cars - only got one offender's insurance to pay for one scrape so I'm £700 down) that I take a quick pic with my camera phone of my car and the cars parked next to me before I leave, making sure all reg plates are in shot. You may get someone else coming, causing damage and leaving again before you get back, but if the paint matches one of the cars in the pic then you can trace the owner via DVLA for a small charge. And the b******s won't expect that. Obsessive? Probably but I really don't see why I should have to pay for some utter t**t's lack of care and decency. Most people don't own up as they think they'll get away with it, so I try to make it as difficult as possible for them to do that. |
