*Pics* *Vids* Odd Job's Quarter-Mile Testing
ahhh, a brisk 55 degree weather in upstate NY. not a bad temperature to test the ultimate driving machine.... Here are a couple of pics of my car and some other cars that were there.
I also saw a land speed record car (basically i spoke to the guy and he said when he fabricates the skin he's going to the salt flats to test) there without its skin, it was running the 1/4 mile at a trap of 200 +... I also saw some "sled" (basically a snowmobile with a flat tred) races, i'd be shitting my pants on them lol, its scary looking. and of course the twin turbo v8 slick'd car ran, i got a photo of that one.. Enjoy! OHH!! Important!!! I also learned a perfect reaction time on the tree's street cars use is a .500 R/T... thats because it takes a half second to go from yellow to green. so one or two of my slips say .4XX meaning i jumped the gun (got a red)... for funny cars and cars of the class there is no 3 yellows so the best R/T is a .000... Intresting Huh? PS: tell me what you think of the times? could i skip into the 12's?

Great times!!! I think if your 60ft. time was better, you could definitely drop into the high 12's. btw -- Which track was that and did you rent the track or were you and a couple other ppl the only ones racing that day (seemed like nobody else was around)? Also, you virtually had no trouble hooking up (no wheel/tire spin at all)...so that track prep must be phenomenal; not something most of us in other states (at other tracks) experience often.

New York International Race Park, yes i didnt personally rent the track but when i got there others did and i got half price because some people didnt show. the reason i was able to grip was because of the low rev i started at.
where do you hold your revs when you launch at the track?

My guess is that you'd probably run ~ 13.3-13.4sec. @ Moroso. I ran against a buddy of mine who had a stock 335i; that night, he ran 13.6x-13.8xsec. @ 102.xxmph. Also, just to give you another perspective on Moroso during the hot, humid summer...a stock '07 Pontiac GTO 6.0L ran in the low 14's and a modded Mitsu Evo ran in the high 13's that night. I'm going back to Moroso in 4-6 weeks when it cools off a bit here + I'll have PROcede v2.0 installed (and I now have my 20lb. Morr monoforged VS7 wheels)...I'm hoping to get into the mid-high 12's @ 108mph+. :rocks:

Go to dragtimes and post your 13.077 @ 106.96 up there.
Fill in as many of the details as possible (ie: weather conditions including temperature and humidity, octane fuel used, the track you were on, any and all modifications to the car, etc. etc.) Nice times for a SSTT car with 6MT BTW to answer your question regarding why your trap speeds dropped on the faster ET's. Well there is a long version and variables why and the short. The short version basically is, the faster you get to the stripe (lower ET's) the less time your car has to accelerate...hence the slightly slower trap speeds. It's a catch-22 really. The fastest ET wins, but most look at the trap speeds to see how hard your car pulls to determine the power. But if you intentionally go for high trap speeds, your ET's will be slower and people will say (or think) you suck at launching and tell you to learn to launch to get your ET's down. It also really comes down to the traction at the track. Based on that video, I think you could of launched a touch harder, but not much. Sounds like you had some decent traction that day. Keep going to the track, get a bit more practice and you'll see 12's no doubt. |

im getting catless DP's and a cdv mod so i hope i can launch harder and run better times. I'm also going to get new tires soon anyway, so next time i go to the track ill sit spinning on the runflats to get them nice and sticky for an easier launch.

Nice times! Breaking into the 12's shouldn't be too much of a stretch, you are right there.
