You need the cable and the software.

Cable is like $35, software is free. You just go into the boost and change 3.00 to 4.00 and save the file.

Don't just go changing the boost to +4 if you use 91 fuel without expecting some probable 'resistance' from your car's engine. It has been reported that +4 works best with at least 93(AKI) gas.

Read the thread thoroughly before making any moves and coming back to this thread blaming S1 for your car's woes.

Cheers

Thanks for the heads up. What do you mean AKI. I run 93 with 10% ethanol. Will this be a problem? Also would you know if later version of the F30 can run E85 without running into any problems down the road? I have heard mixed stories.

You are fine with 93, I would not do 91 on +4.

I would not use ANY tune if the highest grade gas you have is 87. That is barely adequate for a bone stock car at stock boost levels.

That sucks

So, if the AKI/IAD is 87 whats the RON?
Is the same thing?

I wish there was better gas, here we produce so much oil that could serve the whole country but we export everything and still mix more than 20% of etanol in our gas

Thanks for answering anyway

Wait wait, my bad, 87 AKI is about 91 RON. In that case, thats about the octane BMW recommends for stock. I would keep it stock. BMS stage 1 @+3 psi is the most I would push it to, as they test their cars in California and run on 91 RON. I would not do anything more aggressive as that calls for 93 RON.

Well if he can source E85, then that opens a few more doors

From what I remember, JB1 is not for E85, but JB4 is.

Yeah, mine is plus 3 psi, so can I use it with this poor gas?

I defiently feel the difference runnibg +3 & +4 boost. running at +3 the car feels a lot more responsive at higher speeds, where as with the +4 setting, I think the engine hesitates a bit...i think that maybe its running a little to lean at +4psi. iam suggesting this because my gas mileage is amazing when running at this setting whereas with the +3 setting I loose almost 100km in mileage. I have a 2012 320i. Has anyone tried running +5psi? I would like to try this since I have 94 octane fuel available here in Canada.

Hey guys! I have a 2013 320i, and here in Chile I use a 97 Octane fuel. Do you think changing from +3psi to +4psi should be a lot different using this fuel?

Thanks

I'm running 98RON (Shell V-Power) with standard +3psi boost with S1. I intend on keeping it this way until S2 is upgraded to non beta. Plenty of extra boost for me at this time.
