Nothing personal - but I just don't think it's a great idea to have this capability while driving, whether part of iDrive/BMW Apps or not.

It is likely because of your particular smartphone. There is something afoot with Bluetooth on the smartphones and in your car that inhibits the transfer of emails to iDrive. Most Blackberry models accomplish the transfer. iPhones can do it with some inconveient steps. Only the latest Androids (those running Jelly Bean OS) have had success with emails. |

Anything that takes your eyes off the road is a risk. I would rather use iDrive than try to fumble with my smartphone while driving. iDrive will read the email, or at least part of it to you. I use it to see if I have received an important email, maybe listen to it, but then find a better situation when I can read the entire email on my phone (i.e., when I am stopped).
