Did you log low fuel pressure to check what was happening? The tubing over the Venturi valve could have slipped off.. The only other thing I could think of is that there is not a complete air tight seal, I think the system checks for that and it could trigger a warning.

(Thanks A-Spec for the new design)

Ok, so you are running the single walbro in the tank? If you do, only use high pressure hose, the other stuff that is rated for fuel injection wont cut it. Almost every car we have installed a LPFP upgrade in, inline, or intank walbro throws a phantom LPFP code and sometimes gives the fuel pump warning. Its either from the extra current the dual pumps are pulling or in the case of the single walbro, could be a couple of things. Stage 3 car has it sometimes too with the parallel set up. My suggestion is, live with the occasional warning as you know why it is there. If you really hate it, I am sure someone can figure out exactly what causes it. We just didn't take the time as I said we know why it was there.

Why not run the auxiliary/extra pump off a relay? Keep the voltage the same as stock and the car will never know.

I believe the pump is not a ON/OFF pump , thats why relay wont do. Im not sure , thought I seen info about it somewhere.

You are right, but that's not to say you can't have your second pump on with no voltage regulation (like most cars). As long as the factory pump is still being controlled

Is it possible the DME is coded to sense electrical irregularities which would think the stock pump is malfunctioning when there is actually an aftermarket LPFP ?

Why not rig up a some sort of test transistor to see if it would correct this ?

I was thinking that. I will let you know what I come up with

So was this an easy diy? Deciding either between this or the inline addition one in series

I did the drop in walbro 455 lpfp, from my experience inline would be an easier option, I thought breaking the plastic welds on the bucket was a huge pain. What made my decision to do the drop in is that my stock lpfp was the original one (from 2007) and I did not just want a bandaid to mask its potential problems.

If you do not run into any problems or if I had to do this again I would say it probably takes 3 hours to get everything right for the drop in. For me it probably took 5 hours because I couldnt get the screw cover on top of the tank off, then I struggled with the bucket for awhile etc. Hopefully someone that did the inline option can chime in on their install

For opening the ring on fuel tank with ease :

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=845609

To brake the plastic weld I had great success with using a long bladed kitchen knife with a very thin blade , put the tip of the knife between bucket and bracket and gave a small tap with hammer , all came off easily.

I just don't understand the one in series how it can supply the additional fuel when the oe one can't supply it. If the oe one can only put out 90lph and our system needs 100lph how does the inline one pull more?

Think of it as running Batterys in series. Each one bumps up. The fuel pump is designed to flow a certain amount at a certain pressure. For example 90lph at 60psi. The pump may be capable of flowing 180lph at 30psi. And so on. Those are just random numbers but there is science behind it. So you could have the higher flow feeding the pump which will output the higher pressure to the hpfp.
