I have steering wheel controls for my E46's iPhone music kit (DICE), but am worried that same functionality won't be retained in my F30.

If I use the lightning to USB cable in the center console, what functionality does that provide in terms of music? Charging? Music play-back? Steering Controls?

I didn't opt for the technology package or apps because I've read apps is useless and I didn't need navigation or feel the need to shell out $3,000 for basic music playback.
