Upgrading To Leather

Hi guys,

I'm going to upgrade to a leather interior as at the moment I have a 320i SE with manual cloth interior. I just wanted to pick someones brains as to whether there will be any problems with putting in an M Sport manual interior. Every set I have seen seems to have a some kind of rocker switch near the front by the thigh support and was wondering what the button is for and also if its going to cause a problem with the swap over.

I have done a search but couldn't find any definitive answers.

As ever, any help is appreciated.

Gaz.

What year is your car & what options have you currently got on your seats?

Gaz.
If its just a rocker switch, than its for side bolsters.

If its circular with 4 arrows, I guess thats lumbar support.

The only issue I see is that they will not work if you do not have those switches in your current seats.

Cheers for the quick responses guys,

The car is a 2006 E90. The seats are completely bog standard, manual, no lumbar etc.

The seats I've seen have just a rocker switch, no multi-directional switch at the front. I guess I can probably rig up a harness to get the lumbar to work but will be happy as they are to start with as I've been told they are a whole world away from the bog standard seats lol.

Cheers guys once again.

Garage List
The rocker switch is for the side bolsters. It's standard on all E90 M Sport from launch.

Sports seats will be a lot more comfortable and supportive than the SE seats.

If you have planned that, then get full electric seats and run whole bunch of wires.

Makkan00,
I have been thinking about the full electric seats after picking your brains on your seat install a couple of weeks ago but tbh I think the manuals will be fine. I remember you saying that making up the harness and getting the seats all coded was a lengthy job. It's all good though cos the manuals will be a major improvement.

I'll put some photos up when I start the deconstruction of my car lol.

Thanks guys.

You wont need to code them for the electrics to work, just the heat to work if they are heated, just run K-Bus wires and a couple of power leads.

You need to buy non LCI seats unless you want the headache of rewiring the air bags and issues with the rear seat belts.

Good luck!!!

He referred to coding for heating and not electrical.
And my car is pre-LCI and I have fitted LCI leather heated seats without any issues.

I see. Did you change the wiring on the lci air bags on the front seats?

I have a set of lci and non lci se interiors and the wiring looks different.

Looking at changing my black non lci m sport leather to a red leather than I have seen.....
