Iphone 5 wont work with USB

When ever i plug my Iphone 5 into the car to stream pandora through USB it says not supported and no music plays. Has anyone else experienced this problem? and is there any way to solve it? auxiliary works fine but usb alone does not. Thanks

Just as a test, close all of your apps and have pandora playing before you plug it into the car. See if it works since it should default to that instead of the native music player.

Also, I've found that if you're using spotify and you want the song info to come up instantly and continuously, have spotify open or have it as the last music app used and it should always come up on your display. FYI.

If you do not have the option BMW Assist w/Enhanced USB & Bluetooth on the car you can't stream audio.

All F30's have basic Bluetooth. There is an option called BMW Assist with ENHANCED Bluetooth and USB. If you don't have that option on your car, you can't stream audio.

BMW apps allows you to control the Iphone using idrive. If you don't have this feature every time you plug in your USB you will be unable to use the Bluetooth feature (same goes for BMW apps except you can now control the iphone using idrive). However once you remove the usb you will be able to stream using Bluetooth. If you need to charge your iphone, you can plug in to the one in the glove box without losing Bluetooth streaming

I have the BMW Apps and even with that I lose BT audio connectivity when I plug in my iphone 5....is this not supposed to happen if you have BMW apps?

You lose bluetooth whenever you plug in to the center armrest. My X5 is the same way, I don't have BMW apps on that one since it was only available starting 2012, mine is a 2011. On the F30 I have BMW apps. On both cars I lose Bluetooth streaming. The only way to avoid losing it is plugging in to the glove box USB port. Of course this is only necessary when you need to charge the battery

You will still be able to make or receive phone calls though, only the streaming function is lost
