PPK Install Problems: Early November Build Issue?
Looking for a little bit of help on this one…
My car is a: 2013 335xi Msport, Sport Transmission option. Build was completed 11/6/13. -I preordered my PPK from the parts department at my dealer based upon my VIN. -Sent the car in for service/installation Thursday. -I was informed Friday that the car "wouldn't take the kit because the DME in my car was the old DME." -Then my SA says BMW engineering got back to them, and the car should take the kit. -Today my SA explains it to me as "one of the amplifiers won't take the upload". He's contacted BMW engineering again, and is "waiting for an answer". Does any of this make sense to anyone who has had a PPK installed? This was supposed to be a 2 hour process that's taken since Thursday.

And 6/11/13 is tomorrow... So I think your build date might be the issue...Pre-11/12, you need a new DME.

I am going through the same thing, I bought the kit without DME and my vin is Nov production and was told that it wouldn't work and they ended up backing out the changes. Right now I'm trying to work with the folks who sold me the kit to see if I can get the DME.

I had the same issue with an 11/12 build. They said I needed a new DME after they tried a remote session to program and it failed. DME still hasn't arrived and its been over a month now. Must be really back ordered.

They said it was back ordered but they expected it to arrive in 2 weeks. Its been 5 weeks now and the service writer gave me a call a week ago telling me that it should almost be here, LOL. I'm not in a rush, but this wait is taking a lot longer than expected.

ok so they wound up having to change my radio/head unit? the description in my paperwork is as follows: cic failed during programming performed battery reset, performed 2nd attempt to program and code vehicle. vehicle failed second attempt, performed battery reset again and tried third attempt, third attempt failed. instructed to perform IRAP session, set up irap session, unable to perform due to faulty CIC, need to replace CIC first and perform another ista-p session as per bmw engineering. also the VO was not changed for m-performance package during initial programming of CIC, kombi and amp successful, but DME failed to activate. found bad file in original m-powerkit download. necessary to set up another irap session. irap session successful. necessary to let vehicle sleep for 20 minutes and road test, necessary to obtain release code for navigation. hope this helps you guys out!

Just called my SA and went to BMWUSA.com then realized that the MPPK option for pre-11/2012 is no longer available on the website and the SA cannot put the order for me. However, I contacted GetBMWparts and they said I can still order it through them but will take 3-4 weeks from now. I am wondering if BMW pulled back this option for pre 11/2012 as the issues they have experienced? Anyone has the similar experience?

Glad I got mine done...I bet you they pulled off their site because of the excessive costs associated with the IRAP sessions. FOR ONCE, being a first adopter paid off....Tischer is standup though, they'll get you the stuff.

I got the PPK kit installed at Taylor BMW in Augusta, GA. They had never done this on an F30 so I took my chances. My 335i needed a new DME since it was an 02/12 build. From placing the order to installation took exactly a week. There were issues with programming which the dealer had to do a remote from Germany and got it done with no problem.

My 335 has a build date of 4/13 and the ECU version is still MEVD1726 (which requires the the new DME). I was confused by all of this (why the < 11/12 and > 11/12 in the order description for the PPK if my car is a 4/13 build and still requires the new DME?). My dealer contacted BMW NA and they said that BMW was still building vehicles with the older ECU/DME up until recently and that the PPK parts description will (eventually?) be updated to reflect that. Regardless of whether that's true or not, the important part is if they plug into your car and the ECU version is MEVD1726, the new DME is needed; if it's MEVD172S then you don't. Looks like I'm in for a long wait.

I have a pre 11/12 build and needed a new DME. Install at first failed, and it took an IRAP session to straighten it out. All in all they had my car for 5 days but it all worked out in the end and I am happy

does anyone who requires the new DME get the parts and have it installed recently? I placed my order for the whole kit through getbmwparts on 6/19 but the order status still shows "processing". Will appreciate it if anyone on the same boat can keep us update your status on this "pain in the a**" early MPPK situation.
Thanks, |
