Adding standard bluetooth to 2013 328i
I got a deal on a 328 without bluetooth or USB and was hoping to add it. The car was a "mis-build" and this was somehow not put on. Can anyone suggest a way to integrate at least the USB? It comes with just a standard 3.5mm audio jack.
Thanks! |

I even talked with BMW NA about rectifying it (on their dime) and it's a mess. Basically at the very least we are missing the Combox which would need to be restrofitted and programmed. Simply put, this just is not a cost effective route and I have yet to see a single person do it yet.

It's not an integrated solution, but it worked really well in my Mini Cooper which didn't have streaming over Bluetooth. Sometimes this setup can get some feedback because of the power source. If that happens, get a 3.5mm ground loop isolator on amazon. |

http://www.amazon.com/BlackBerry-Rem...+Music+Gateway First, does it charge the Ipod? The 3.5mm aux in located in the center console does not charge it which is annoying. What does this offer that is an improvement over the Y-cable in the center console?

http://shop.crackberry.com/blackberr...A172A11438.htm This solution will not charge your iPod. The solution I outlined above only provides a streaming bluetooth audio solution so you can listen to your music without having to connect your device to anything. If you want to charge while you listen, then you have to connect a power source to the the iPod's dock connector. You could connect the 3.5mm stereo line like normal and plug the standard Apple white dock connector cable into a USB power adapter inserted into the cigarette lighter port behind the center console. Personally, I prefer to not have to connect for audio, so I have a charger cable and USB power adapter plugged into the socket just below the dash. I use bluetooth streaming for audio, and if my charge gets low, I plug in up in the front where I still have easy access to my iPhone. Instead of an iPod, I use a USB flash drive in the center console, but that's not an option for you. |
