2014 X1 Loaner - non iDrive

I have a loaner for a week. I was able to pair my iPhone via Bluetooth for the phone functions, but I cannot get it to recognize the iPhone when I plug it into the USB port to listen to music. When I plug the iPhone in the USB slot and it begins charging, and hit the large AUDIO button on the upper left, and select USB, it keeps telling me to "Insert USB".

What am I doing wrong?

You need the Y cable.

seems it doesn't have the enhanced bluetooth, so it will never work, if you can , copy your music to USB steak and you are all set.

Well I had a old 'Y' cable and an old iPhone to new iPhone connector and I am in business. Who'da thought that a 2014 wouldn't work with the standard cable.
