MY BMW Remote Update
In addition to some updates for Google Map integration, it appears that the remote unlock function is being taken away in order to reduce unintentional unlocks. The description states you now have to call BMW Assist to get a door unlock.
So, with the app I cannot pecondition my car (in the US) and now cannot unlock the car, so I am left with honking the horn and flashing the lights. |

I am U.K. based and have just downloaded the update.
In the U.K. we do not seem to have the option for the Horn, but we can still pre-condition and flash headlights and remote lock / unlock. |

this by far is the worst update to the app. I mean why shouldn't I be able to unlock my car via the app? What's the purpose of the app if we can't use it to be able to do this? I sometimes don't take my keys with me if I have to get something fast from my car, but I always have my phone on me, so I unlock the car, and then lock it again with the app. So now it does no good at all.

Could they not just have added a prompt box making sure you want to unlock the doors? IMO if you can't understand the difference between lock and unlock, you shouldn't have the privilege of owning a BMW.

Just FYI - don't upgrade to iOS7 when it comes out. It auto-updates your apps, so you will have pretty much no choice but to run the latest. This is a huge bonus for developers, but in rare cases like this not so much for users.

Thanks, not planning on, I always jailbreak so usually a version or two behind. Hopefully they'll have more granular controls on the auto-update like Android does but Apple doesn't usually do that. IT and cell phone geek

You can turn auto-update off so it acts just like it does with iOS 6

I'd not actually looked but wondered if you could. In a way it's a shame, because it's a massive annoyance of mine that our clients don't upgrade to the latest version (even when told they have to because of their site configuration) and then I get errors and complaints from them that it doesn't work. I've still got users on a version that's about 6 or 7 releases old.

Sometimes also it means I'm running code on the server to handle "faulty" clients which adds load I don't need for the sake of clients who can't be bothered updating. My choice is cut them off, or suffer their laziness |

What's the reasoning behind not providing preconditioning to US customers? This is the feature that I would like to use the most!
