since it doesn't say that it's for the Z4 M, i assumed it was for the Z3 like all of the other M Coupe/Roadster items they sell.

thanks for the clarification. i'll be ordering one now.

I really, really, like the stock Z4 shifter. In what ways did you find it deficient, and how is UUC's better?

Personal opinion but I think its sloppy and the throws are a bit long. But I have always had SSK on all my cars so I might be picky. The UUC has shorter much more direct throws. It also does not give you the option to enter the wrong gear if you are a little off you always know exactly where you are and the gear you are going to feels like you are on a path and not just heading in a general direction.

It really is something you have to try to understand its really hard to put it all into words. For someone like you who tracks your car alot you should try it I think you would like it.

Oh and I think I gained about 25hp with it ! according to my butt dyno.

-Dunno, I think the stock shifter is close to perfect, but I'm coming from my M5 shifter, which was too sloppy from BMW, and much better with the Rogue SSK - but still looser and longer than my OEM Z4 shifter. I'm curious to sample your though, if we're ever near each other.

Looks like the Z4 non-M has the same part number for the UCC EVO SSK, interchangeable? Scratch that just checked RealOEM.com identical gearshift assemblies, part numbers as well.

that's because the Z4 M doesn't have an M3 transmisison. it has the Z4 3.0si transmission so all the related parts are also the same.

I am also considering getting SSK because I don't like the popping feeling when the gears go in and out.
My current car has a B&M and it's very short and direct.

Rom3n have you consider any other SSKs? if there are any?

I had a B&M on this car before and i took it off because it was a bit too stiff and vibrated / rattled at high speeds.

yeah I intend on buying this. Just picked up my coupe today and this gearbox seriously feels like garbage compared to my s2000. Its even worse than the shifter on my e46 zhp

-No.

Notchiness is due to internal components within the gearbox. A weighted rod like the DSSR and/or a heavier knob can help, but we're all essentially stuck with the factory notchiness.

I ordered my UUC SS yesterday. I'm getting it installed at EMW (EMW1.com) in Arcadia CA. on Nov. 3. I'll post a review after the install. I was hoping to get Supersprint Race cans installed also but they are on backorder with all the retailers.

-I don't know if it's relevant to you, but BMS will start production of their Z4 M exhaust next week.

and thats why our transmissions grind because there is too much power and the syncs are too slow..

how hard was it to install? did you do it yourself? i installed mine on my 330ci but that was incl. DSSR and the DSSR was the hard part, the rest was easy.

I switched mine to the UUC SSK and love it also. I do think that it is much more direct and improved what I thought was already a nice shifter.
