How long have you all gone without plates?
Just curious how long SoCal peeps have gone before mounting license plates. I'm definitely never mounting a front plate on my M Sport front bumper but my plates did arrive in the mail yesterday and holding out on mounting the rear for a while.

Haha I am in the situation. I am in LA/ Downtown area. Purchased the car in Dec, but due to mailing issue, never got them til last week (Had to go into DMV).
Right now, I don't have any mods/tint on the car. IMO i think thats why the cops are not pulling me over for still having paper plates. I think as long as you don't get pulled over, cops not being dicks, and the car looks relatively new, u should be ok. For Front license plate, I had e92 before F30. Didn't have front plates. Got like 3 tickets and cops didn't care that I had front plates missing... or didn't bother to see the front of the vehicle. |

I went 3 months with the Euro tourist plates. I still don't have the front plate on.

Really? How long ago? I haven't noticed that many casing the camera lights (which show if the transponder was read correctly). Seems silly that they babysit an HOV lane when they should be out citing the masses of idiots in the #1 for VC 21654.

A couple of years ago, I was pulled in Big Bear for no plates and tinted windows in a new truck. Basically CHP told me that people typically run without plates to avoid tolls so I guess that's where they're going with it.

About 6 months ago. They still babysit the HOV lane, you know that freeway now broke a record of how many tickets that have been given on it!

6 months with just paper plate with dealer logo on. Drove mostly around downtown LA. With temp registration on windshield of course. Kept the car very clean to emphasize that it's new car. Hehe. Heard from a cop friend that they don't like to pull over cars without license plate since they'd have to write down VIN numbers instead. Doesn't mean that they won't tho. Oh and watch out for DUI n License checkpoints if u are in LA area. They seem to have checkpoints every week now. One officer asked me for registration as well. Good luck.

I'm keeping my TX temp plates on as long as I can, lol. If it wasn't a felony, I'd change the paper (it literally is a piece of printer paper) to change the expiration date.

I finally gave in and put the rear plate on last night. Was going to be out late night and figured I didn't need another excuse for a cop to pull me over.
Then my Huskies tried to tell me I didn't need the other one.

Got my F30 in Nov... I got my rear plate within a couple weeks so I put it on... but have been without front plate this whole time.... no issues yet... I have a magnetic front plate so I can just put it on if I need to real quick.. i usually put it in the window when Im parked on a major street... been there, gotten that ticket... (in my A3...)
But I plan on never driving around with the front plate.. if I get pulled over Ill put it on and take a pic for the DMV, pay the $15 and remove it again... I only got one no plate ticket in 2.5 years with the A3.. and that was the time I was parked on Ventura Blvd and forgot to put it in on... Ive always had all the windows tinted too and never had an issue there...

Has anyone tried double sided taping the BMW bracket on the front of the car? I'm planning on running my TX plates as long as I can since "it isn't in the state for more than 10 days at a time" and I have "gainful employment in multiple states" and can't get dual residency

You won't get ticket. It's just that if they spot you, they'll pull you over. They said they pull over anyone without plates.
