Diff oil 335d

I would like to chnage my diff oil but I believe BMW did not fit a drain plug as they classed diff oil as "lifetime". I had a google and watched some youtube vids which show using a transfer pump to suck out the oil oil through the filling oil and refill again so i guess this would be my method?

On opie oils website there are 2 types - 75w 140 and 75w 90. My car has been remapped so not sure which one of the above to go for and how many litres do i need?

Also is there a specific brand to go for?

Castrol Syntrax 75-90 unless you have a limited slip diff in which case you need 75-140. I changed mine a few weeks ago. With the car on level ground I pumped out exactly 1 litre. You need to pump the new oil in as it is impossible to tip the new oil container enough to empty it. My car had done 140k when I changed the oil and the oil I extracted was dark clear brown in colour whereas the new oil was pale amber.

I used this pump......

And this oil

Many thanks i will go for the above as they are very good price. You say your used 1 litre is it best to buy 2 litres or 1 litre be sufficent?

with re filling is it the same principle of keep filling it up until it starts to trickle out?

I think buying an extra litre is a good idea. I am pretty certain I didn't fill mine completely so I plan to purchase another litre and top up during the next few weeks.

Yes - the correct method is to fill until it starts to overflow. My principle was based on taking 1 litre out and putting 1 litre in (or as near as dammit).

BTW the oil from the same supplier on their ebay shop is cheaper (free delivery)
