F30 Mud Flaps Retrofit Kit PDF

I just received this file today.
Front installation is required only to rotate tires to open space.
Rear - tire off only options.

Looks like it should be pretty easy but I wonder if English to American translation is still required. One page refers to a lug being formed (but isn't talking about a wheel). Elsewhere, expanding rivets are removed. I've worked with expanding rivets on aircraft before and they had to be drilled out yet the instructions call for them to be unscrewed. Are they speaking of something like a wall anchor perhaps?

Have your completed your installation yet? How did it go?

Only on front wheels, rear required removing wheels and I don't have proper tool for that.
Rivets is plastic and hold in place by plastic pin (about 1mm diameter) inside. You take a screwdriver or something else sharp and push this inside pin more inside and it will go. And then you will be able remove rivets. Install is the same you install rivets first (they came with this pin sticking up) and then use small hammer to push inside pin to the rivets head.

I will made a few pics, when I get home from work.

I don't have new rivets, so I used old one (previously used, that you will removed during installation). Instead of nail it will be a plastic pin.
To remove pin, you have to tip with sharp object on the pin (pic 3) end pin will go inside and relive rivets. New rivets with pin looks like one on Pic 2.
You replaced one with new and with small hummer push pin till he seat with the level of rivets head (pic 3)

Has anyone done this and can comment on the adhesive "seal" that goes against the body? I'm tackling this soon and initially was planning on only running the flaps during winter months, so I'm wondering if the adhesive can be removed from the flaps and a 3M double-stick type solution used after the first use.

yep, I've fitted mudflaps front & rear to my 328i. (UK forum thread some weeks ago)

The "seal" is a very narrow bit of double-sided sticky foam-type tape. I think it's probably meant to fill any small gaps so that water/grit doesn't creep behind the flap and onto the paintwork. I can't see why you couldn't just pull of the mudflaps if you really wanted to-I doubt the tape would have a very strong hold.

I did not have to remove the rear wheels to get the mudflaps fitted, either... there was sufficient room to use a small socket on the heads of the bolts.

That's what I figure. Glad to hear it may be possible without pulling the wheels.

I'm reviving this thread from the dead and adding my $0.02. I just pulled my front and rear set off my 2014 F30 and tried to put them on my 2017 F31 M-Sport
  • Never needed to remove the wheels for install
  • Yes, you can reuse them, but you'll need to reapply the double-sided tape. One roll will be just enough for front+rear
  • The double-sided tape comes off the car cleanly, but getting it off the mudflap is a PITA
  • You'll need a couple sets of expanding rivets
  • Rears fit the LCI perfectly
  • Fronts dont work at all for the LCI, the wheel well liner has changed shape and wont fit the front mudflaps. Even the BMW parts database says it wont fit cars built after 7/2015

Does anyone know if BMW makes mudflaps for LCI cars?

Is your F31 is a newer car? Do you have the part number for the fronts? Mine is 82 16 2 218 983

You part # appears to be for F30 variants, but only on F31 & F31 LCI touring models. I've read elsewhere of the rocker panel/molding not allowing a good fit on some models (like M-sport), although realoem "says" they should be the correct part:
For vehicles with M Sports package and M Aerodynamics package
01 Set mud flaps, front F30/F31 82162218983
02 Set mud flaps, rear F30/F31 82162218984

Thats the exact part I have. No idea why it's fitting some cars. Maybe BMW has a new design, but kept the old part number?

Do you need a bracket for the left back one? Because of the exhaust there is nothing to mount the two botton screews in.
