Cilajet auto paint protection
Purchased new black 335i last night and the dealer recommends I purchase cilajet paint protection. I've never believed in this kind of stuff in the past. But it looked like a good product. It's $795 for exterior, interior, and rims. They claim I will never have to polish or wax the car, just wash it and it will look fantastic.
Has anyone had experience with cilajet? http://www.cilajet.com/ |

I don't have experience with Cilajet, but I do have with Opti-Coat on my Jet Black, and I can tell you it's a waste of money.

My buddy bought an x5 a li'l while ago and was also offered calijet but some guy at the dealer advise him not to buy as it comes with all new car. Short story he got it for no charge. Don't know how but maybe kuzz he spent about 90k on it. See if you can twist some arm before surrendering to buy

Opti-coat has been great for me. I never trusted any of those other coatings like Dupont, etc. but opticoat is one of the most recommended products on most of the detailing websites. I even let the dealer wash my car now - no swirls after a year. Would highly recommend to anybody with fresh paint, but obviously you need to get someone who can apply it properly.

I certainly have no experience with Opti-Coat but several well respected detailers (some who are listed by Opti-Coat, but no longer deal with it) tell me that swirls will develop and once you get them out, you have taken the Opti-Coat off it.
Perhaps that is incorrect, but after hearing it from some very trusted detailers (and perhaps it is only cars in high sun areas like Florida and desert areas), I just have not a pressed to get it done as I was several months ago. |

Quick pic from today while the sun was setting, trying to check for any swirls:
