The stock one has the red tint, and I believe it will still light up red. Any one tire to replace the bulbs to amber?

Thanks. But $310 a pair, I might just wait for the blackline to be available again.

Euro tail lights/part #s

If you want the increased safety with Euro tail lights that flash yellow, you must replace the corner tail light lens. Both the NA lights and the Euro lights have the same clear bulbs and bulb holders. Here are the part numbers for the Euro lights :
63-21-6-937-457 L - rear side
63-21-6-937-458 R - rear side

If you are able to persuade your dealer to take in trade your NA tail lights, then the cost to change over to the Euro lights will be approx. $200 -$250 for the pair. Installation takes less than 10 minutes. All the of the internal parts are the same.
And the Euro lights are DOT approved for NA.

I still don't get why they made the NA models different from the Euro ones. Amber is approved here. Why? Does BMW think it looks better with a red turn signal? And is this the current trend? Look at the Audi's. They have red turn signal as well. Same with the Infiniti as well as some others.

I think many people want red turns in the US. Look all American cars, GM, Ford; they are all red.

Yea, I do not understand the Red turn signals at all. Maybe because I am European?!? The again the rest of the world uses amber turn signals all around as well. I think amber turn signals improve safety by being more visible and distinct from the rest of the lights.
How many times were you caught behind a Buick thinking that the grandma was turning, yet she was just tapping her breaks.
I was disappointed to see e90 had with red turn signals; however that did not stop me from ordering one. As soon as it arrives I am installing black lines

Where did you order the blackline? I cannot find any dealer who have them. And the dealer near by, they wouldn't track down the European tail light part number.

I also could not stand the red turning signals and I'm not crazy about the black line lights, so I went ahead and ordered a set of stock Euro-spec tail lights from Frank in Germany. He posts on this site as dtmpassion, and his e-mail address is info@dtmpassion.de

He was quick to order and ship the parts, and uses PayPal. The parts are now en route to my home in Chicago. Total cost of transaction was EUR 207, or about $240, shipping included. If you can't get your dealer to help you, try Frank.

Also he said the supplier for blackline demage the mold/tool, so it is on back order now.

Just got my amber tail lights...

... Installed them today. Thanks to longtran for his DIY on installing black lines, installing these lights was very easy to do. At first it looked like the new lights were not going to fit right, but after tightening the nuts, it all looks perfectly lined up. I am very happy now with my amber-colored turn signals!

Pics forthcoming, if anybody's interested. I realize these may not be as "sexy" as the black lines, but hey, to each his/her own...

By the way, a big shout-out to Frank at dtmpassion. He packaged the shipping box within an inch of its life. There was no way these fragile parts were going to be damaged on their way from Germany. Very thorough job in packing and shipping. I wholeheartedly recommend doing business with this guy!
