[Be Awesome 335i]

I am pulling the trigger on the MRR GT-8 wheels in 19x8.5 35mm F and 19x9.5 33mm R from one of our forum vendors

Now, tires are a must....

Torn between the RE-11 and Pilot SS....

I will keep my M-Sport wheels and run-flat tires as a backup/winter wheels set however, I barely drive the car as it is so the MMR's may just stay on the car year round!

What is the general conscientious on theses tires?

-Quality
-Longevity
-Performance
-Drivability

Keep in mind that performance is my number one concern followed by road noise.

Tire size I'm looking at is 245/35/19 F & 275/30/19 R

Just because these are the two tires I'm torn between doesn't mean I'm not up for any comparable suggestions....

I understand I'm the one purchasing the tires and will be driving the car, with that said.....any opinions will be greatly appreciated.. Thanks!

RE-11's are probably more suited for cars that participate in some sort of racing (auto-x, road track, etc.). PSS are (in my opinion) the ultimate street tire since it also provides relatively decent treadwear. RE-11 probably stick better but will also wear out quicker.

I appreciate the insight... I figured that's the case because i read that the Pilot SS retain somewhat of wet weather performance where as the RE-11's advertise "extreme summer dry weather performance"!

The RE-11 is a hardcore tire in comparison, however for everyday driving they're a bit much in my opinion. The PSS is a great street tire in comparison.

A little off topic, but those are pretty conservative wheels/offsets. Not looking for something more aggressive with your LB Msport?

Forgive the stupid question but when you say "a bit much" are you referring to the fact that they are more track tire then street tire?

I wouldn't mind something more aggressive however, i would like to retain performance and i love the look/design of the gt-8 wheel. Any suggestions other then the bbs wheel that looks similar.....those only fit the m3. What offsets/wheels are you thinking?

Well I don't have any specific wheel in mind, but most guys these days go with at least 9" in the front and 10" in the rear with low to mid 20 offsets. It'll look more aggressive and wider tires never hurt performance.

Not that i want to get to far of topic, would it hurt to run some modest spacers to get the same look!?

Spacers can push your wheels out further to give you a more aggressive look, but that's just another $150-$200 that you don't have to spend if you buy the offsets you want right off the bat. Obviously it won't make your wheels wider.

Yes. They provide superior grip in the dry compared to your average street summer tire, but for someone that is just using them to get around town, they're more than they would need.

I have ran several tires on various cars, and have used both the RE-11 and Mich PSS. Everyone is correct...the RE-11 is overkill. In the end they were very expensive tires. I have given up on Bridgestones...seems they really get noisy after 50% of the tread is gone...sounds like a mudder pick up when going down the road. The Michelins are a no brainer in my opinion..and they do carry a mileage warranty if you rotate according to Michelin specs.

Enjoy the MRR wheels. I got the GT 7's and was so thankful for getting them after my wife seriously curbed them after being on the vehicle for less than one week. They are fairly cheap (to replace). She hit and then brushed a curbing section at the bank drive up really hard. Ouch!

Wise choice.

Not that you would regret the performance, but because you paid a premium for them and they didn't get fully utilized. PSS should meet your expectations without being over the top.

Guy at the shop tried selling me on these Falken AZENIS RT-615K... Know anything about them?

My gut says PSS and I'm just going to stick with it!

RT615Ks aren't bad tires at all, but personally I'd still go for the Michelins. I'd probably group the Azenis in with other higher end performance tires (RS3, AD08, RE-11, etc.). For all around use, the Michelins are a good bet. The Falkens will perform well in the dry though.
