Will OEM e9x M3 wheels fit any e9x car?

Pretty much what it says really. Will OEM e9x M3 wheels fit any e9x car?

I've heard rumours that the backs will but the fronts won't.

What about e46 OEM M3 wheels, will they fit?

Yes. Pretty much.
With E9X M3
Rear wheel is the more aggressive, it still fits, but fender roll and maybe little narrower tyre is probably needed. Also if the wheels have tyres from M3 it will have wrong height ratio. Example 255/40/18 on M3, it should be 255/35/18 on normal E9X car. Most front wheels are direct fit. Some will work with the right size tyres.

With E46 M3
Front wheels have little bit high offset, so it will need spacers, maybe not because inner clearance, but aesthetic reasons. Rear wheels are direct fit at least most cases.

I'll add one hint as well: e9X M3 wheels are much easier to fit on pre lci cars as they have an 8mm narrower rear track. As long as you get the proper tires and don't lower too drastically, these are basically a bolt-on affair for early cars. Later cars need a fender roll in the rear to pull it off. Front fitment is straightforward with the proper tires.

Is that the same case with pre LCI coupes, narrower rear track?

I have read somewhere that coupe's have little bit less room generally, than Pre-lci E90 something like 5mm. I'm not 100% sure tho.

Yes it will work, but if you decide to lower it, then you need most likely fender roll at rear. Here is coupe with those wheels and sport suspension, but with 225/40/18 and 255/35/18. Which would be your other possibility of tyre size. Both have diameter difference under 1%.

for e90 pre-lci, i used the following tires: 235/40R18, 265/35R18. lowered on eibach pro-kit springs, no fender roll or cut. i did rub with one person in the rear seats when i had 5mm spacers in the rear. removed the spacers and no rub
